Spotify Spotify Lossless is here, it's official!

still waiting for a human being which is able to identify a difference between cd and everything above. on my equipment. what is not too bad at all. maybe heaven send me one in nearer future. so i have reasons to upgrade in the 'digital domain'. 😉
I’m with you here. I’m not trying to imply there isn’t a difference, I just want to know if there’s a discernible enough difference that my old ears will hear from my modest equipment to make it worth venturing down that road. I’m very happy with what I’ve got now, and it’s not even cd quality - it’s whatever iOS sends out from Apple Music over Bluetooth, which I believe is AAC at 256 kps. On paper the difference in numbers looks substantial, but everything I’m reading says most people wouldn’t notice a difference unless they had high-end headphones or stereo equipment, of which I have neither, and very sensitive ears (jury is out on that one). I love my system and my new AT cans, but I know they’re nowhere near what anybody would consider high-end. And me, I can tell the difference between good sound and crappy, and have been on a long quest for the best sound I can cobble together on a modest budget, but I certainly don’t consider myself an audiophile.

Bottom line is, every time I think I’m ready to take the plunge into losslessness, I read something else that says I probably wouldn’t hear a difference. Just to reiterate for reference, I’ve got an Amp Ultra driving Paradigm Monitor SE 6000F’s and a SVS SB1000 Pro sub.
