Squeezelite can't find lyrion

One of my Pro plus wiims can't find LMS. I've rebooted, factory reset and all the usual stuff. My other pro plus and ultra see it just fine. Obviously I'll raise a ticket.

I have the upnp bridge running anyway (for the minis) and I only use lyrion as a backup/messing about music source. It's not my main/daily music server. It plays my ibroadcast library only, no local music, no radio, no qobuz/tidal/Spotify, no music artist info etc, etc. It runs on a mini pc with debian server and plenty of spare oomph. Basically I just use it to play ibroadcast without chromecast occasionally.

My question is - for my use case is there any real advantage using squeezelite at all, or should I just use the upnp bridge?

Cheers

That's the relevant bit I guess, so the answer is, for my use case, since I have the bridge for my minis, I may as well use it for all of them.
If you group all your devices in the WHA and play to the group through Lyrion using the UPnP Bridge, all devices should stay in sync.

I have a WiiM Pro and Audio Pro A10kii (non WiiM) and find this approach only works if I group them with the Audio Pro as the lead device.
If WiiM is the lead, LMS plays only to the WiiM.
If anything I'd have expected it to be the other way round, it's odd. I don't know if a WiiM mini would have the same issue.

Are you using upnpbridge only with the audio pro, and relying on the Pro’s Squeezelite client? That would explain it as I seem to recall having similar issues trying to play to a WiiM group when the lead device was using Squeezelite

I’m sure @d6jg will correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t there issues with group sync using the upnpbridge plugin and native Squeezelite clients? Having said that, I seldom group my WiiM devices and am very happy with using upnpbridge for my WiiM Mini.
Correct. Don’t even try to sync a player using the UPnPBridge. It’s explicitly stated by the author as not possible.

I'm just trying to get started with Lyrion and and I have a similar issue, though intermittent.

For context, I am building a new NAS based on TrueNAS. I have a prototype TrueNAS system working, and this has the LMS app installed in a docker container. This system is runing alongside my old NAS which is using DLNA and doesn't support LMS.

So LMS is working great most of the time with my WiiM Amp Ultra with squeezelite enabled. I'm using the Lyrplay iOS app (and also the web interface to local LMS server). The problem occurs when I am already playing something or recently played something using the WiiM app, via DLNA from the old NAS. When I try to switch from WiiM app to LMS, the WiiM Amp Ultra somehow disappers as a player from Lyrion, despite it having recently worked and me not touching the WiiM settings.

This happened yesterday. I tried a few things, like restarting the LMS server, searching for the LMS server in the WiiM app, disabling/re-enabling squeezelite, turning the Amp Ultra off and on, etc. It eventually worked but I'm not sure what did it. No luck getting it back today so far.

Any ideas?

Any time I see issues when Docker is mentioned, I recall that it has to be in host mode - do have it set as such? If you do a search for Docker in the forum, that often comes up

I can't say what causes it but I believe that behaviour will go away when you switch entirely to Lyrion. Presumably LyrPlay can always see (and play from) the Lyrion server.

Wow, very responsive responses after just a few minutes, thanks.

It's back. A mains power cycle of the WiiM may have helped.

Yes, LMS is in host mode, and has worked.

I agree d6jg that this might go away once I only have one server again. Lyrplay does not seem to lose contact with the LMS server. Just the WiiM player disappears.

I also want DLNA working again and am still to manage that with my TrueNAS box. I have tried the Jellyfin app as well as the UPnP/DLNA Media Interface plugin in LMS and not managed to get either to work. Though maybe I just need to embrace Lyrion and leave DLNA behind. Separation anxiety.

Can I ask, why do you need DLNA?
The Lyrion UPnP/DLNA Media Interface plugin is really basic and not seen any development for 10+ years but there are other things you can use on the TrueNAS alongside Lyrion depending on the reason behind the need.

No real need I guess. Just that I have only had the amp a few months and DLNA has been working well so far, along with me being used to the WiiM app. Just want to make sure I'm not leaving options behind. If I want DLNA I would look next at running it another way as you say.

I have a few DLNA servers at my disposal but don't use any for music. Once you know your way around Lyrion and some key plugins there is no need to use the WiiM Home App for anything other than changing settings.
