Support 256kbps AAC streaming for Soundcloud GO+

I have subscribed to SoundCloud GO+ to be able to stream music at a higher bitrate of 256kbps AAC (as opposed to 128kbps offered by the free SoundCloud version). However when I stream music from my SoundCloud GO+ account through the WIIM Mini, it’s still only playing at 128kbps. I have changed all the relevant settings in the Soundcloud and WIIM menus to allow for high quality playback but it hasn’t helped.

Yeah, I had, and reported, this exact same issue in March.

Is there an option and documentstion to implement plugins ourselves? Would like to see this supported and if I have to, I am happy to implement it myself.

No. That is not possible.

Can’t you use airplay or Chromecast (as appropriate) from the SoundCloud app as they both accommodate the highest quality stream SoundCloud has to offer? It’s unlikely any third party interface in the WiiM app could match the features in the native app.

But it does support airplay, that’s why I said “as appropriate”. AirPlay’s bandwidth matches that of SoundCloud Go+ so again is sufficient for the purpose.

Edit: sounds like you might have an android phone. Even the Bluetooth codec that WiiM devices support (SBC/AAC) should be sufficient for SoundCloud Go+

I haven’t seen anywhere where it says it doesn’t, perhaps not surprising given using Chromecast is more than capable of supporting their highest resolution. I guess only SoundCloud can offer a definitive answer so perhaps contacting their support directly is the best route.
