Support for plex

If it mirrors that, you should not need Plex Pass for the mere act of "casting" from the app to your device. You would get gapless bit-perfect playback, but would miss out on "sweet fades" and other features that are specific to Plexamp.
In a previous post I linked to a Lumin site that stated a Plex Pass subscription is required if casting from the PlexAmp app, but that could have been dated from when the PlexAmp app was subscription only.

I use RoPieee and if I want to use the PlexAmp interface then I need a Plex Pass subscription, as you do if you want to use PlexAmp on the rpi, so I'd be very surprised if the PlexAmp app works with a PlexAmp endpoint on WiiM hardware subscription free, but who knows.

A "PlexAmp" interface in the WiiM app would be madness (from a Plex perspective), but that's not to say it won't happen.

@WiiM Team can we expect a beta soon? Would be great to have this as a "launch feature" on the upcoming WiiM Ultra ;)

All I really care about is to be able to use the WiiM as an endpoint for bit-perfect playback from Plex & Plexamp app on my phone or computer (not relying on Chromecast or Airplay). I don't expect them to fully integrate a browser for my Plex server within the WiiM Home app, although it would be nice to have.

Plexamp headless would be ideal so you can just control from another device using the Plexamp app. This seems like the simplest implementation.

Would be good to know in what way they are integrating Plex because there are paths they could go down which would be pretty awful

Really? I have integrated Plex in the past for a few projects and its mostly pretty straight forward - effectively ask the USER to enter a one time token within the App while popping up a window to get your Plex to generate that one time token - then present a list of your libraries allow the user to select their music library - but there can be some complications e.g. I have 2 plex servers with 3 different 'audio' libraries but most people will probably only have 1.

Yes the way it is described right now, it'll allow us to browse Plex libraries from within the WiiM Home app... Not sure why they'd put so much effort in this as the browsing experience in Plexamp or even vanilla Plex will be hard to beat.

Hopefully logging in with Plex credentials will automatically make your WiiM devices show up as endpoints as well.

I agree completely, but maybe it'll appeal to a wider audience than a PlexAmp endpoint behind a paywall.
Do they publish subscriber stats?

The recent news from Plex concerning Tidal makes this all a bit stable door ......

I am not sure how that affects plex integration into the WiiM Home app? As Tidal is already there ? What I want it to both see my plex music in the WiiM Home app - maybe adding a Plex playlist as a favourite so I can trigger it from the WiiM Remote but also see my WiiM devices appears in the PlexAmp queue so I can do the opposite and use the PlexAmp app to control the play on say my WiiM Mini ( you can obviously use the Google Cast on the other WiiM Devices already from within PlexAmp ).

It is nice to do it all in WiiM but the limitations can be annoying if you want to do a bit more than just listen to an album or playlist. Plexamp is a very rich client and based on the existing integration I can't see WiiM matching it.

Yep.
The WiiM's already support Roon and LMS and if you are a user of either of those systems you don't need to go anywhere near the WiiM App.
I for one only ever look at the app when an update has been announced to see what it is.
I imagined that Plex would be the same i.e. you would use PlexAmp or regular Plex app and not WiiM app so removal of Tidal does have some bearing.

I agree being a headless PlexAmp would seem the most capable solution and easily controlled from any and indeed multiple devices at the same time.

Let's see what people's experience is with the Beta. Anyone here who will join Beta and able to describe functionality within WiiM app and from Plexamp app?

Personally I'm afraid it is heading towards a big disappointment (eg nothing possible from within Plexamp).

If that is true then they will have wasted their time and should be asking people for input or reading this forum.

They have always been specific in naming it "Native Plex integration" and now they very carefully mention "... our app".

I hope I'm wrong..
