In a previous post I linked to a Lumin site that stated a Plex Pass subscription is required if casting from the PlexAmp app, but that could have been dated from when the PlexAmp app was subscription only.If it mirrors that, you should not need Plex Pass for the mere act of "casting" from the app to your device. You would get gapless bit-perfect playback, but would miss out on "sweet fades" and other features that are specific to Plexamp.
Would be good to know in what way they are integrating Plex because there are paths they could go down which would be pretty awfulAlso posting here:

Really? I have integrated Plex in the past for a few projects and its mostly pretty straight forward - effectively ask the USER to enter a one time token within the App while popping up a window to get your Plex to generate that one time token - then present a list of your libraries allow the user to select their music library - but there can be some complications e.g. I have 2 plex servers with 3 different 'audio' libraries but most people will probably only have 1.Would be good to know in what way they are integrating Plex because there are paths they could go down which would be pretty awful
Soon to be released to the beta channel:Would be good to know in what way they are integrating Plex because there are paths they could go down which would be pretty awful
The Plex feature allows you to browse and stream content directly from Plex to our device through our app.
I agree completely, but maybe it'll appeal to a wider audience than a PlexAmp endpoint behind a paywall.Yes the way it is described right now, it'll allow us to browse Plex libraries from within the WiiM Home app... Not sure why they'd put so much effort in this as the browsing experience
I am not sure how that affects plex integration into the WiiM Home app? As Tidal is already there ? What I want it to both see my plex music in the WiiM Home app - maybe adding a Plex playlist as a favourite so I can trigger it from the WiiM Remote but also see my WiiM devices appears in the PlexAmp queue so I can do the opposite and use the PlexAmp app to control the play on say my WiiM Mini ( you can obviously use the Google Cast on the other WiiM Devices already from within PlexAmp ).The recent news from Plex concerning Tidal makes this all a bit stable door ......
It is nice to do it all in WiiM but the limitations can be annoying if you want to do a bit more than just listen to an album or playlist. Plexamp is a very rich client and based on the existing integration I can't see WiiM matching it.I am not sure how that affects plex integration into the WiiM Home app? As Tidal is already there ? I agree being a headless PlexAmp would seem the most capable solution and easily controlled from any and indeed multiple devices at the same time.Yep.
The WiiM's already support Roon and LMS and if you are a user of either of those systems you don't need to go anywhere near the WiiM App.
I for one only ever look at the app when an update has been announced to see what it is.
I imagined that Plex would be the same i.e. you would use PlexAmp or regular Plex app and not WiiM app so removal of Tidal does have some bearing.
Fully agree!Let's just wait and see
