Test WIIM pro+ with different power supplies

It does make a difference but is it worth it?
I doubted very much there could be a difference. So I startet out by changing to a Power Bank, and YES there was quite a signifiant change in Sound Quality. So I ordered a Allo Shanti on Amazon.de knowing I´d always could use the return option.
The difference in SQ was HUGE! The soundstage opens up as on very expensive streamers. And my ears could hear much more low level details on songs I´d known for decades. No need to say I kept the Allo Shanti,
PS The other day I was cleaning behind my gear and had all the cables taken out everywhere. After all was plugged back in I was sad that the sound from my Wiim Pro was not good anymore. It was harsh and uninvolving to say the least. After some hours I remembered to check the power for the Wiim Pro, and YES I had plugged in the power from the WiiM switch mode power supply!
My smile was big when I plugged the Allo Shanti back in, and the SQ returned to former glory.
So to the doubters and the nay sayers: try with a cheap Power Bank you probably have somewhere, and listen and enjoy the music.

What output are you using on the WiiM Pro?

It would also help to know the entire setup. I'm using powered near-field monitors but my audio out from the WiiM Pro+ goes to the sub first via RCA, sub has a crossover, then out via RCA to the monitors.

I may not be able to tell a difference since I have that sub in-between.

What sub is it? Not many subs have high pass in them

This:

Nothing special really, but it seems to be built well and for the current setup, in a small room, it's doing a pretty good job.

I can't see anything where it has a high pass filter. tbh with a sub of that price, I doubt it has. Would be better to send cables to speakers & sub seperatly not going through the sub

The subs that I owned with high pass was SVS SB12+ and SVS SB Ultra 13.

Tried two different power sources for a WiiM Pro: a 5v LPS and then a TalentCell battery powered 5v solution. The latter proved to be far better than the first. There's been a lot of cries about it from the denialists.

Also, you can see Ian Canada has built DAC and streamer solutions around battery-powered options. People like the results.

I'd need a WiiM Ultra for a dedicated sub out but that guy doesn't seem to natively support AirPlay, which is unfortunate.

The Fostex PM0.4n don't have a line out unfortunately.

But, I do have a WiiM Mini unused, use that to power the sub and gain a 10-band PEQ for it. Hmm.

There's some other options I found like this Pyle Active XO with low/high-pass filtering. Or, FMOD inline passive high-pass filters. Input impedance on the Fostex is 54kOhm so there will be some shift.

I'll see what I can do with the WiiM Mini as it's just kinda being not used. And maybe the FMODs to high-pass the Fostex.

If you can do that, get the two synced up, then adjust the delay on the output that would allow you to get speakers and sub aligned...as what you're doing now you can't, also you're not high passing the speakers, just sending full range to the sub, the sub sends full range off to the speakers. Also going through a probably low quality analogue stage so it'll sound worse.

Going Wiim--->speakers means less electronics in the way.
