I have a question here. Does the Wiim Amp Ultra have an overload protection function? Today, for some unknown reason, the volume suddenly reached 100%. That was really terrifying.

Limiting the volume is also a method, but well-designed equipment should have overload protection, which can protect the power amplifier and the speakers.

The amplifier and the speakers won't be damaged by 100% volume (assuming the speakers were chosen to handle the max power of the amplifier). There is no overload involved. Setting the volume limit in Audio Settings is the solution.

100% volume doesn't mean overload. The power amplifier is integrated. It doesn't know about what the speakers can take, it's your task to match them as described by @slartibartfast.
