Thinking to buy a WiiM Ultra to connect with Bose Soundtouch 20

The reason I have this in mind is because Bose terminates this Soundtouch line, and the Soundtouch 20 (and other Soundtouch devices) will become useless.

But: is this a good option? Is it just putting a RCA cable from the WiiM Ultra to the Soundtouch 20? And if this is possible, would the sound quality equals the sound of the Soundtouch as stand alone speaker? I listen often to TuneIn.

I hope I can avoid buying new speakers, all suggestions are welcome.

Thanks @Burnside, presets with different profiles is the solution!

@d6jg : I did not try Bluetooth because the Bose I now use does not have Bluetooth, the other one has, but I find Bluetoothing not comfortable.
Fair enough. Your SQ problem (if there is one) will be the DAC (WiiM) -> ADC (Bose AuxIn) chain created by whichever WiiM you choose.

Does the Bose have the ability to use a custom URL for an Internet Radio station and if so can you assign it to a preset on the Bose?

I get the impression that any software related feature like that will also die next Feb.

Only thing against Mini is lack of Remote Control which may be important to @Kees. The Pro Plus is lowest model that has a Remote IIRC
Wiim's remote controls work with the Mini -- I'm using one at the moment in my office to control a Mini for background music. The only catch is that you have to buy the remote separately, but they are not very expensive and you can even find them used on eBay.

I asked because the article says the following

I read that to suggest that presets that don’t reference TuneIn, Spotify etc may well continue to work

I will not change the Bose presets, and hopefully they stay functioning after Bose pulls the plug.
I think you should change them to direct connections to whatever Radio stations you use. They are more likely to fail if they involve Bose cloud anywhere

I'd be cautious on buying anything to keep your Bose Sound Touch product functioning until they finalize their plan. I have seven Bose SA-5 amplifiers and without the app (cloud support) I can't even power them on.

I sent a private message to Bose on Facebook and in our chats they said they are continuing to look at possible solutions to ensure streaming and system grouping. Updates will be communicated via email and on their website.

This is why I joined this Wiim forum today, I'm looking for a replacement solution for my whole house audio.

Another question pops up. The Ultra has two line out for RCA, serving left and right stereo. My Bose Soundtouch had only one RCA line in.
How do I connect in the right way?

Couldn't wait longer and bought the Ultra. I am very happy with this device, the sound quality over the Bose Soundtouch is at least as good as it was as the Bose as stand alone.

I like the app also, although it bothers me a little that the EQ settings of the presets are not fixed but seems to follow the EQ settings of the last played preset.

And I would like the pictures, the artwork on the favorites page smaller or adjustable in size. They are much to big to me.

Thanks to all of you who helped me!

When 'Follow Current EQ' is selected in the preset editing screen, EQ does not change. Should you wish to use different EQ settings across multiple presets, you must specify the EQ for each individual preset.

You can submitting a request ticket via the WiiM app's feedback section.

I have had an open ticker #528954 for 5 months for this now. So not much hope to get it updated. The response from @WiiM Support was:

Thank you for reaching out to the WiiM Support team. We greatly appreciate your suggestion and have added your request to our feature list. Should the opportunity arise to implement this feature in the future, we will certainly consider it.

Maybe another ticket could trigger a reconsideration?

I did ask for this yesterday, by using the feedback option in the app. Did not get a reaction yet.

Edit: Maybe yesterday I used a wrong emailaddress, I just did give feedback again.

Please read the confirmation email you got carefully.

It explicitly tells you to respond to it in case you want to receive a personal response.

Today I did get the same response.

I am happy with my current setup. The Ultra and Mini connected each with a Bose Soundtouch 20. But reading again about Bose ending the services they even mention possible disfunctioning the AUX. Then I would need new speakers.
Question: without also buying an amp, which (active) speakers come to mind? The sound quality should be equal or better than the Soundtouch.
