Thinking to buy a WiiM Ultra to connect with Bose Soundtouch 20

The reason I have this in mind is because Bose terminates this Soundtouch line, and the Soundtouch 20 (and other Soundtouch devices) will become useless.

But: is this a good option? Is it just putting a RCA cable from the WiiM Ultra to the Soundtouch 20? And if this is possible, would the sound quality equals the sound of the Soundtouch as stand alone speaker? I listen often to TuneIn.

I hope I can avoid buying new speakers, all suggestions are welcome.

Regards

I am happy with my current setup. The Ultra and Mini connected each with a Bose Soundtouch 20. But reading again about Bose ending the services they even mention possible disfunctioning the AUX. Then I would need new speakers.
Question: without also buying an amp, which (active) speakers come to mind? The sound quality should be equal or better than the Soundtouch.
I don’t know how the Bose Soundtouch sounds, but I do have a Soundlink Flex and a Bose soundbar that I’m happy with. I know, totally different applications, but that’s all I have for reference. That being said, have you taken a look at the soon-to-be-released WiiM Sound speaker? It looks like it should start coming available in about a month. You won’t find a better integration with your Ultra.

Largely depends on budget.
There are some great active speakers from the likes of Kef but not cheap.
Do you want a single stereo box or a pair of speakers?

@Eddie Spaghetti, the WiiM Sound is an interesting option. I am curious for reviews en also the Lite version.
@d6jg, I will need two speakers, one attached to the Mini, one to the Ultra. Each in a different room. Kef seems to be above budget.

But, buying a WiiM Sound makes my just bought WiiM Ultra sort of useless, isn't it?
I only use the Ultra for streaming internet radio and music from my NAS.

Why? It's a completely different product with a built in amplifier and speaker. The Ultra is neither of those things.

Correct me if I am wrong, but with the WiiM Sound you can stream internet radio and music from your NAS. It has a built in amplifier and speaker. Thats all I need. Then why do I need the Ultra?

The Ultra is intended to be used in a system setup. Be it a small desktop with a pair of active speakers or in a full fledged HiFi connected to an amp and large passive speakers.
If you are content with a small-box all-in-one the Sound is your product and you neither have use for the Ultra nor for your legacy Bose.

I guess I have to wait till more is known about the Bose Soundtouch future and also about the sound quality of the Sound. Then decide what to do: stay with the Soundtouch as speaker, buy the Sound or go for another setup.
