Toggle "5Ghz only" always resets to "on" after reboot

Hi,

in the device settings under "Network Status", there's a toggle for "5 Ghz only". I need to set this to "off" because my 5 GHz network isn't super reliable and goes offline for whole stretches of time.

However, having disabled this setting, it always goes back to "on" by itself, after every reboot.

Does anyone else get this?

(Of course this means if I fire up my device while the 5GHz network isn't working, the Wiim doesn't connect to anything, even though the 2,4 GHz network is online and ready. It's annoying.)

I have the exact same issue
I'm curious if you have Band Steering enabled in your router. I had other non WiiM related issues that were fixed once I turned off Band Steering, which results in 2 SSIDs, the only difference being one has -5G at the end. Maybe this might be an option to try if you have Band Steering enabled?

I do have band steering enabled, and unfortunately (for this situation) I quite like it. It works wonders on my phones and tablets, and so I'm hesitant to turn it off.

Do your devices often change bands? Can you even tell if they do? I don't even trust my router to choose the channel never mind the band 🤣

Is it possible to set the router to fix the WiiM connection to 2.4GHz?
My router can it in the "Preferred Wi-Fi Bands" section.

Yeah my phone moves seamlessly between the 5 and 2.4 depending on which part of the house I'm on. I hadn't thought of it much until I started digging but it simply just switches as needed / possible.

Use router/mesh WiFi access control to white/blacklist the client device onto the desired band.
These are both good ideas. My stupid ISP stock router is giving me trouble (I have to login through an app which, today, isn't working), but I'll see if I can fix it on that end. Thanks.
