Maybe some time ago, now there are "plenty" of optical and coax mqa capable and royalties charged DAC's . They will be useless in (hoping) short time

Still some DACs offer full decoder function only over USB, but yeah, we will forget about it soon.

While I never seriously considered any new DAC with a decoder, I certainly forgot all about it a long time ago, when Qobuz came to the U.S.
