Hi Team,Hi Wiimer,
All popular music apps, including Spotify, AMU, Qobuz, Apple Music, Roon, and others, exhibit the same behavior when it comes to track rewinding. Given this, we believe this improvement is crucial. Our priority will be to ensure the real-time functionality is accurate, and we plan to implement this feature within the month.
Maybe many other applications works by double pressing rewind but this doesn't always work due to delays. The current WiiM functionality is the most logical and will always work (rew+fwr to go to start of track). Please don't change something that works.Hi Wiimer,

From a bird's eye view, it is certainly the most reasonable thing to do. However, I believe that sometimes there are wrong or outdated conventions. It would seem trivial to support both, but would mean another option in the app.
Go with convention![]()
Literally any normal CD/LD/BRD player, iPod/DAP, or any such thing that my children are too young to ever remember functions this way. The WiiM is actually abnormal in this respect. I 100% agree with Quarry on this. Can this not be done like it is done in the Apple Music app?
Pressing skip back takes you back to the start of the current track, but if pressed twice in quick succession it takes you to the previous track.
This was from December 2024, now it is September 25. I thought it would have been implemented within a month, as in 30 days or less. But clearly the message states within the month - but not which month or year. All popular music apps, including Spotify, AMU, Qobuz, Apple Music, Roon, and others, exhibit the same behavior when it comes to track rewinding. Any updates?Hi Wiimer,

. When you press previous track, the track is supposed to start over. Press it twice to go back to the previous song.
Does that suggest that they’re unlikely to resolve the issue in either way? I’m curious. The absence of high-resolution multi-room playback within the Wiim app is the only other factor preventing me from using it exclusively and not switching back and forth to Tidal. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I’m glad I’m not alone in these hopes. To be precise, it's not how many music apps operate. This is how it actually works.
1) If you tap the back button once more than 3 seconds after the track starts playing, it returns to the beginning of the track.
2) If you tap the back button once within 3 seconds of the track starting to play, it returns to the previous track.
The appearance that double-tapping returns to the previous track stems from this rule. However, on some streaming services, operational delays within the WiiM app may prevent this from functioning correctly. For instance, when playing via AlexaCast on Amazon Music, double-tapping may not work properly within the Amazon Music app. (The same is likely to occur within the WiiM app.)
This is not to say I oppose your request. Should the behaviour be changed, a swipe-based skip function would need to be added. While swipe-based skipping is a standard feature on many music services, it is currently absent from the WiiM app.
I don't have the bandwidth to go back and test every app, but I just tested Tidal and YouTube Music, and they work as I said. A minute into the song, one tap results in going to the beginning of the song. Double tap results in the previous track being played.
Hopefully one day soon! I'm just using the slider until something is changed, buuut it's unresponsive at times haha.Indeed, it works in most cases. However, it is important to note that double-tapping is not an official feature.
As a test, start playing a track in the YouTube Music app and tap the back button just once within 3 seconds of starting. It should return you to the previous track. This means the trigger for returning to the previous track is not double-tapping.
To reiterate, if adding this functionality to the WiiM app, an alternative method is required as double-tapping may cease to function correctly with some streaming services. That is why I propose swipe-based skipping.
Therefore, my suggestion is as follows.
1) If you tap the back button once more than 3 seconds after the track starts playing, it returns to the beginning of the track.
2) If you tap the back button once within 3 seconds of the track starting to play, it returns to the previous track.
3) Swiping left or right on the playback screen or album art will skip tracks. (The playback controller displayed at the bottom of the screen when the playback screen is closed functions in the same way.)
