Please provide us your magical LSP...created at Hogwarts I assume. All you have to do is tell us which one, since you are so sure of your claims, then it can be tested and validate your claims.

Talks is cheap...prove it!

You are hilarious...as always, people like you lacking ANYTHING even remotely close to facts end up trying to personally attack, now trying to question my knowledge (which of course you have no idea of my experience but since all your "Facts" are based on imagination then this is not surprising lol) and similar childish tactics.
Yes I take issues with people spreading all this BS misinformation because I have been on this industry for DECADES and it is time this nonsense stops.
This aint the dark ages, we have ways to prove that all people like you is spreading, is false.
There are SOOO many real ways to improve sound yet some people like you focus on ridiculous things that do NOTHING except fill the pockets of the snake oil sellers taking advantage of the gullible.
You have been mocked at ASR and I see you are want to find a place were other people share your delusions. You can try audiogon and headfi..they will welcome you there. :D

Again, this is not HARD....show ANY real evidence to back up your claims or ZIP IT....anything else you say is just excuse after excuse to lie to yourself and others.

I've provided pictures to demonstrate my use and support of linear power supplies. Got any pictures to show that you've tried a linear? I think not.

How is that proof of ANYTHING????????? Are you kidding me now? Pictures of using something..I can put a picture of me using a dead golfish on top of my DAC to increase its soundstage...

Proves are MEASUREMENTS or a blind test where people with claims like yours, can validate their claims. You know there is NO PROOF thus why you always avoid providing any. With SOOOO many bogus claims and companies selling snakeoil, if there was a SINGLE piece of evidence, they will have it all over their marketing to sell their products...but since they know is BS, instead of facts they have beautiful poetry :D

"The moment I connected the new DAC, the soundstage expanded into a holographic three-dimensional tapestry. The midrange blossomed with organic warmth, while the highs shimmered like sunlight dancing on a crystal lake. The bass? Oh, subterranean — yet polite, like a velvet hammer. It’s as if the electrons themselves were more emotionally involved. You don’t just hear the music, you feel the soul of the engineer in every note."

Heck yeah..I will take the "proof" above over any science.... :D :D :D :D

There's an old adage on audio forums which says "if there are no pictures it didn't happen". What it proves is you don't have any experience with linear power supplies to back up any of your negative comments.

If this is Poultrygeist's concept of 'Proof', I really don't think there is anything to be gained from further discussion on the subject.

Time to leave him to his delusion and move on. Life's too short.

Not all switch mode power supplies are poorly shielded and add noise. Here is an example of one of the better switching mode power supplies available. It has far better shielding providing a cleaner signal than you get from a cheap wall wart. No way would a manufacturer use one of these as it's too large and costly. I encourage you naysayers to try DIY which will give you real life experience to base your opinions on.

The proof is in the pudding is an expression that means the value, quality, or truth of something must be judged based on direct experience with it—or on its results.

Or are my expectations simply just too high, and it’s highly possible that the setup could just sound/perform better without the ZD3 and the Ultra going direct to the V3’s?
Yes, that's absolutely possible. :) If in doubt, go with what you like better. If you cannot detect a difference, less expensive qualifies as better for most, but the decision is still up to you.

What seems to be new is that a mod gives a "thumb up" for an insulting, arrogant and disrespectful post.
What's not so new: A perfectly valid observation and question has been talked to death by parties insisting on their own point of view, where both sides become picky about good manners only when they feel a headwind.

Couldnt agree more!
It reminds of people falling for those romance catfish scams...in spite of ALL the evidence and everyone else able to see what is happening, they remain blind or prefer to keep believing.
Is like a need to feel special like they can hear things nobody else can...there has to be some deep psychological thing going on.
I leave you with this :D

Hi all,

Could do with a bit of guidance please, from those who know more than me!

My current set up is an Ultra going into a pair of Fosi V3 Monos (with the stock op amps replaced with Sparko’s as3602s) via RCA and onto a pair of Oberon 5’s. To be honest I’m pretty happy with the output , listening mostly to content from Tidal.

However like most of us, I’m always looking to squeeze out a bit more, so I recently invested in a ZD3 DAC/pre amp which I connected in between the Ultra and the V3 Monos.

I have tried connecting the Ultra to the ZD3 by both Coax and USB, and the ZD3 to the V3 Monos by both XLR and RCA.

I was expecting the output ‘with’ the ZD3 in the chain to be better, it’s a slightly better DAC on paper than the one in the Ultra (as I understand it) and the XLR I assumed would also improve performance.

However I’m feeling rather disappointed with it all and reckon it sounds better to me without the ZD3 in the chain.

The main difference I noticed was the drop in volume (or gain)…when using the ZD3 to control the volume (Ultra output set to 100%) I seem to be cranking it up more than previously to get a similar volume?

Secondly, the sound/output seems suppressed somehow…or perhaps less punchy and dynamic overall?

Am I doing something wrong with the set up?

Are the stock op amps in the ZD3 having an adverse affect on the output given I’ve got upgraded ones in the V3’s?

Or are my expectations simply just too high, and it’s highly possible that the setup could just sound/perform better without the ZD3 and the Ultra going direct to the V3’s?

Thanks all 🙂
When i connect to two za3 should I put wiim in mono mode or leave in stereo?

The ZA3 when set to Mono will increase gain about ~3dB and increase power up to 40%, but you take several dB hit to SINAD, so leave each amp on Stereo, and crank it as loud as you actually like to listen and see if it sounds good. If it does, then you’re good, but if you find that it lacks the headroom or volume you want, then switch them to Mono (turn them off before flipping the switch).

Leave in Stereo, unless you want the same sound out of each speaker.
I think he’s asking about each of the ZA3s, which have a mono mode switch that boosts power and gain when one amp is used per channel; he’s not talking about the Mono setting in the WiiM.
