New WiiM owner here and boy is it nice to have such a great little "almost" all-in-one wonder. But I'm having some quality playback issues with my Sony XM4's which I never had with my FiiO BTA30 Pro DAC. Regardless of source [CD/Phono/Pandora/PlexAMP (flac files on my PC)] when I part to BT out XM4's it usually starts playing fine, but after a few tracks and esp. if I pause then play again or a get a notification on my phone the playback becomes partially garbled.

Now I have searched a few threads here and one promising was this one which I have already tried, meaning in my Sony app I switched from quality playback to more stable connection and that did not help: https://forum.wiimhome.com/threads/wiim-pro-plus-bluetooth-connection-with-sony-headphone.5640/ I also enabled "connect to 2 devices simultaneously" which was previously off and that didn't help either.

So at this point, I'm 90% satisfied with my purchase, sure hope this is some setting w/in WiiM I'm missing or a known issues that can be defined so I can make an informed decision on what to do next.

Thank you,
Roy

In a case like this, it’s probably best raising a ticket to WiiM when it happens so they can inspect your device logs. It may be network related, so under your device’s network status in the app, try turning on 5ghz only and turn off IPv6 and WiFi roaming, then try toggling “smart network enhancement “ (which seems to have replaced the old preferred dns setting) to see if those help - WiiM will probably advice suggest you try those so let them know you’ve already tried if none work.

Thank yoiu Burnside. So 5ghz only was already on. Wi-Fi roaming was already off, ipv6 was on and now I have it off, smart network enhancement was off and is now on. I will test again after reboot.

Well changing to those settings didn't help, but I've discovered that the poor stream quality ALWAYS occurs when I take my headphones off and then put them back on which as set default with the Sony's turns them off or sort of like a stby. When this occurs I noticed that when I put them pack on the music cuts back in and it's terrible sounding (garbled) and the Bluetooth out setting on the WiiM app shows disconnected even though they really are not. So I click pair and that fixes the connection statement to the WM-4s but sound is still terrible. So I have disabled auto off/stby when taking the headphones off, let's see...

I am still having issues here, not sure what the problem is but it is isolated to the WiiM transmission since streaming from my phone, wife's phone (different mfg), son's phone (same mfg but different model) and my original DAC the FiiO BTA30 Pro does not create the issue. I'm opening a ticket now. Thank you.
