Updated WiiM Ultra and Amp Ultra Roadmaps Are Here

We just published an updated roadmap for the WiiM Ultra and the WiiM Amp Ultra, and we’ll be updating some other roadmaps soon. You can see the full details on our Help Center (Ultra| Amp Ultra), but here are some highlights and a quick look at where we're headed.

What This Roadmap Represents​

This is a transparent look at what we're actively building, what we're exploring, and what we've recently shipped. Some of these features will land exactly as described. Others might evolve as we work through technical realities and a few might not make it at all. You’ll also notice that there are no timelines, development is a long process and priorities shift throughout the year, so we’re not going to commit to specific timing right now.

We're sharing this openly because your feedback directly shapes our priorities. We watch all the forum conversations, app surveys, and feature requests you share, and use it all to feed into this. So check it out, and we hope there’s something in here you love the idea of!

These roadmaps focus on the Ultra and Amp Ultra first. They're our flagship devices with the hardware to support more advanced features. Where it makes sense and where it's technically feasible, we'll bring capabilities to other products in the lineup. Some features will be Ultra-specific by necessity.

Display & Interface Upgrades

Input-specific screen layouts that remember your preferences and automatically switch based on active input. Black background mode for album art that blends seamlessly with the bezel. Standby and clock options including permanent clock display during playback with adjustable timeout durations. Direct USB and Favorites browsing on the touchscreen without needing your phone.

Next-Generation Room Correction

BassFit integration automatically aligns time and level between your main speakers and subwoofer for seamless low-end coherence. SurroundFit calibration provides precise automated alignment of front, surround, and subwoofer channels for immersive experiences. RoomFit+ evolution delivers tighter bass response and improved transient handling. CenterFit phantom center creates adjustable vocal enhancement for improved dialogue clarity. Context-aware bass management assigns independent crossover and gain settings per source. Discrete dual subwoofer control enables independent calibration to smooth out room modes.

Smarter Audio Processing

Scenario-based presets for Night, Dialog, and Sports modes powered by our 10-band PEQ engine. Adaptive dynamic loudness using Fletcher-Munson curves to preserve bass and treble at low volumes. Pro-grade filter import from REW or AutoEQ. Advanced profile management for transferring correction data across devices with Expert Mode for weighted measurements.

Connectivity & Ecosystem

Adaptive source profiles let you customize EQ curves, volume, display layouts, and grouping logic per input that automatically engage when you switch sources. Universal hi-res multi-room with expanded support across Roon Ready and Google Cast endpoints. NAS Mode (SMB Write) transforms the devices into network music servers, managing and transferring files to your USB drive wirelessly. Native Plex integration with Plex control. Complete overhaul of the internet radio engine for faster buffering and higher bitrate streams. Expanded wireless subwoofer protocol to Roon and Google Cast. Support for USB libraries up to 200,000 tracks.

Smart Home Integration

Deeper Home Assistant integration with support for presets and alarms. Native Apple HomeKit and Shortcuts support. Smart input switching that preserves playback context and volume states.

Future Concepts Under Consideration

Specialized streaming integrations for Idagio (Classical), Nugs.net (Live Events), and SiriusXM. Personal cloud locker support for Dropbox, OneDrive, and iCloud, allowing you to stream your collection directly without a physical NAS or USB drive.

These roadmaps are a starting point. We're watching your responses, reading the threads, and paying attention to what resonates. If there's a feature you're interested in, say so. If something doesn't make sense for your use case, let us know, but be respectful. Not every feature is going to hit for every person, a feature you’ll never use might be exactly what someone else needs.

We're building this with you, not for you. The difference matters.

Yes, this could be done. Most other RoomFit settings will have an influence on the measurement itself, though, so usefulness is pretty much limited to this single case. And it comes at the cost of having to save the measurement permanently plus having UI elements for deleting it when it's no longer needed.

A mere recalculation could pick up changes in the algorithm, but that doesn't convince me either.
Saving the measurement might be useful. At the moment once RoomFit is finished there is no way to look at the raw measurements or export them.

Most of the settings in RoomFit don't really require remeasurement to be applied.
The exceptions which would require remeasurement are selection of the measurement method (i.e. single sweep, multiple sweeps or MMM), selection of stereo or individual channel RoomFit, and possibly the Subwoofer Calibration toggle.

E.g. compare this with REW: you make a measurement, but then based on that one measurement you can create various different corrections. You can change correction range, smoothing, target, filter gain/Q constraints, etc. and generate different corrections for any combination of settings from a single measurement.

I don't see a reason why something similar couldn't be done in RoomFit as well.
 
How would you test if not by taking a measurement? :unsure:

You can already store multiple RoomFit sets and manually change each one to your liking. Once you're done with tweaking you can change it and immediately perform a (combined left and right) measurement. Or just listen to the changes if you prefer to.
The idea is just to recalculate the correction with different parameters (Harman, B&K but also max gain, Q ….) and test it to find more easiely the good configuration for your system and ears. One original sweep is ok for that. I do this in HouseCurve in fact. It could be fine to have all in Wiim.
 
Ok, I now see where you're coming from and I agree on what it would be useful for. I still see some potential challenges. Unlike e.g. REW, RoomFit is not a stand-alone application and it's at least open for debate if the data should be stored locally or in the cloud.

What I've been trying to express for a while now... ;-)

I imagine it can easily be stored in your Wiimhome if needed and sent back to the servers for calculations if necessary. ;-)

You know that I always try to understand what you say,. don't you. :) I don't succeed every single time, but at least I try.
 
Please add Sofabaton universal remote control support (bluetooth). Having 2 remotes out is just embarrassing and inconvenient. Also, using ARC for my Amps is not ideal.
 
We're certainly open to the idea, but no promises or guaranties. Music service (and smart assistant) integrations are a partnership that requires work from both sides to make them happen. Also, I should mention that roadmaps are a look forward at where we want to go, but sometimes we can't always make every stop along the way.
I’m okay with no airplay and happy with Qobuz. American tech giants have enough market share as it is.
Mind you - I’m 🇨🇦 so my opinion could possibly be …biased non?
 
No timeline I'm willing to commit to right now, but I'll see if the team wants to chime in :)
Please take a look into the ISO 226 standard before investing engineering hours on the (outdated) Fletcher-Munson loudness. However, implementation of any of the two versions is better than nothing.🫶 Perhaps, Crossfeed for the headphone output would also be nice?🙏🏻

ISO 226:2023 conditions include “the listeners are otologically normal persons in the age range from 18 years to 25 years inclusive.” That’s me out then 😜🤣

Is it possible to integrate the Speaker/Subwoofer timing sync with the RoomFit room correction? That way you can apply different speaker/subwoofer timing for each room correction.

This helps if you have room correction for multiple listening positions or different speaker configurations. These will have unique speaker/subwoofer timings or delays since the listening position has changed or the speaker configuration has changed.

So if you change the RoomFit correction, the speaker/subwoofer delay timing changes as well and is tied to that specific correction setting.

Additionally, add the ability to assign the remote control buttons to a specific RoomFit setting for fast and easy switching.

Please please implement this feature! It's really inconvenient to to the whole procedure everytime I rip a new CD:
- Get behind the TV board to unplug the USB drive
- Go to the PC to update music and playlist files on the USB drive
- Get behind the TV board to plug the USB drive again
- Rescan USB library through the app
- Repeat the whole process for the next room
- Repeat the whole process a week later when I come home with yet another CD

I only believe this if you actually deliver the OneDrive integration. It's been on the roadmap for at least three years and was one of the main drivers for me to get into the WiiM universe. Unfortunately it never seems to get any attention outside the roadmap :-/

That would be nice! Also, USB playlists started through one of the preset buttons on the remote control still only load the first 500 tracks. Please fix that on the way 🙏

Why would you repeat the process for every room? The WiiM media server can be accessed from each device on the same network. You just need one memory drive for your entire home.

WiiM Ultra in the living room is used to play music from a USB drive attached to a Wiim Amp in the bedroom. This WiiM amp is also used by another familiy member to either play TV sound through HDMI Arc or play a different playlist from the USB drive or stream music through Spotify.

I never expected this kind of setup to work. But I'm happy to be wrong in this case 😅

When you add a usb drive to a WiiM device, its contents are scanned, indexed and presented as a UpNP server to all UpNP clients on your local network, so your WiiM Ultra could access that UpNP server whose drive happens to be attached to the WiiM Amp while that WiiM Amp could be doing its own thing.

And this is not proprietary to WiiM devices. Any DLNA capable device can access this server, e.g. a smartphone running BubbleUPnP or any other capable player.
