It's a shame that somes aspects regarding audio (or DLNA) are quite basic, and this applies to all Wiim machines, not just the Ultra... dont progress...
it hasn't progressed over the ..years.

Sub Cal… what upcoming update? FW? Which FW, Amp Aultra, Sub Pro (WiFi)? How does that work?

Pour ceux de culture française...
Y a des questions...faut pas... ;-)

Where did the idea of a dynamic "physio" filter come from?
for low-level listening, nighttime listening, etc.....always developing?
(This will concern ...all Wiim machines...)

Just a reminder...
- Everything related to "DSP" processing applies to all machines... dlna too..and other things that I'm forgetting...

-Subwoofer processing and hdmi fonctions...Ultra and the two amp..

-Screen..only ultra

I was just trying to get my SVS subwoofer and Ampapa D1 power amp more properly 'gain-staged' with the WiiM Ultra for everyday listening volume. I was able to use RoomFit with subwoofer calibration turned on to see if I needed to adjust the relative gain on the sub or main's amp, so that with a couple iterations, I could see that RoomFit stopped trying to make deep wide cuts above or below the crossover. It would've been cool if it suggested a simple subwoofer level adjustment (particularly when I knew that's all that all that was needed).

I should note that previously, using RoomFit measurements and corrections applied below the crossover frequency, I configured the SVS SB1000Pro sub's DSP to put a HPF @ 25Hz with a 6db slope, and 3 EQ filters for room modes based upon RoomFit's biggest cuts. This brought my room's extreme low freq gain pretty much into line before RoomFit was re-run (and able to make only finer adjustments between 20-500Hz).

[Edit - one of these days I should buy a proper calibrated mic that will look at the frequencies my iPhone 14 Pro can't hear above 3-4KHz ;-).

You mean some sort of configurable "loudness" feature? I'd be happy to see this.
Besides a lot of PEQs (albeit at 48kS/s only) this feature is implemented with a lot of flexibility. I haven't checked this implementation out yet, but if the "pico" manages the processing the uC in the WiiM should not have an issue.

A lot of flexibility to configure it is very much welcomed - most of the hard-wired implementations in old-school integrated amps never really hit the point for my taste.

Yes... It was discussed...and announced

But it brings us back to the very serious, age-old problem of distortion/saturation management due to positive gain...

which isn't automatically handled by the Wiim... and this has been the case for years... even with presets in GEC mode since their inception!
The GEC and PEQ modes... same thing... The pregains... etc.
There's still manual, case-by-case management... (a nightmare if you're playing with PEQ memories with positive gains, for example)

This is the essential, ever-present problem with our wiim audio machines...
It's just camouflaged by a DRC that reduces distortion and saturation from the digital domain to 0dB, making it less awful in the analog domain...
That's the issue... especially since most of what's produced is "calibrated" close to 0dfs.

This is a fundamental aspect whenever you're working with DSP...

This is the need that has been unaddressed since spring 2022... and the first mode gec/presets and the small mini
