Here’s a draft of your forum post in EnHi everyone,

I'm planning to use a Wiim Ultra together with a vintage Marantz 2270 receiver, and I'm wondering how best to approach volume control in this setup.

Ideally, I’d like to use the Wiim to control the volume. If I set the volume knob on the Marantz to around 12 or 1 o’clock and leave it there, would I experience a noticeable loss in sound quality by adjusting volume exclusively through the Wiim?

Also, which line out level setting on the Wiim Ultra would you recommend for this type of use?

Of course, I’ll experiment myself once I have everything hooked up, but I’m curious if anyone here has tried a similar setup. If so, how did it work out for you?

The receiver manual states a line in sensitivity of 180mV, so I’d set your WiiM line out level to 200 mVrms. Set the Marantz volume level all the way down, and the WiiM output volume to 100% then slowly increase the Marantz volume to the loudest you’d ever want to play it, then turn the WiiM volume down to your normal listening level. Don’t touch the Marantz volume after than and just use the WiiM’s volume control thereafter
