Vibelink amp Photo Gallery

Just a WIIM Pro Plus streamer. Using the DAC inside of the Vibelink. TV on optical.
Parasound Halo P6 is flexible. Pre amp, DAC. Not cheap though. Enough I/O.

high pass function also.

Look, thanks for all of the input but I don't need suggestions. I know what I need and unfortunately, this Vibelink amp isn't it. No sub output means it's going back to Amazon.

Not much choice ..either making compromise with a AVR (since you need digital inputs) with so so stereo performance of a AVR, or an expensive AV pre amp, that parasound is near perfect 2.1 digital pre amp, just add E-ARC and DD/DTS decoders for decent downmixing and it's sorted

I've found decoding and downmixing in my AV pre amps better than just sending PCM from the TV for TV series/movies. Since yours is stereo /2.2 and TV system then need some AV & HDMI functionality.

If you need sub pre out, duals, and ideally individual delay/levels etc then looking at a AV pre amp.

I just have a Wiim Ultra myself.

I went back to my class AB power amp and preamp. No problem with using high level sub inputs from this amp.

yeah those are more flexible. I understand the appeal of the Wiim amps but limited in some ways. However you won't be able to time align the subwoofers to each other (as a pair) then match the sub to the speakers, or PEQ the subs.

If you have UMIK1 mic, I'd do the following

1) Run a full range sweep to the left speaker only
2) Run a full range sweep to the right speaker only
3) Run a sweep to the left subwoofer only, say 15-300hz
4) Run a sweep to the right subwoofer only, say 15-300hz
5) Run a sweep to the both subwoofers only, 15-300hz
6) Run a full range sweep to both speakers and both subs.

If response with the subs on looks worse (look at any cancellation going on) then subs aren't acoustically aligned with the speakers.

This is what adjusting phase on my sub does to a left & subwoofer response, yours will be doing something funky like that, and with two subs you'll likely have even more funky interaction. Look what's happening from 100hz to 180hz.

I was adjusting sub phase every 15 degrees

My sub can adjust the phase every 45 degrees, but with two subs I gave up because it was too complicated 😂.

I just use the PEQ on the Pro to adjust left and right individually, then play them back in stereo and fine tune. It's not perfect, but I think the results are not bad 😄.

My other subs have variable phase from 0-180, or the minidsp can adjust level in 0.02ms steps. That should be fine enough hah

I have 1 sub but have thought about having 2 but I'm very limited on placement, and the few videos showing setup for 2 subs I have seen point to placement being very important and can if not right cancel out each other or make the response worse at certain frequency.
I'm lucky with the subs response in it's location it seems quite good, maybe stacking would work for me but not a fan of the way it looks.
But maybe just try it with 1 first and see if the 2nd improves the sound.

Stacking increases output but doesn't flatten response. Yes adding two subs or more, placing anywhere and not using phase/delay is not ideal...mine was improved immensely with measurement, someone able to understand what needs to be entered, resulting in proper integration.

look at post 77 as an example.

A little complex for me, but I do understand why phase/delay is important:)

How did you guys install your Vibelink amp?

It would be great if you could post some photos of your Vibelink here. I'm still trying to decide on a layout. I would like to use yours as a reference 😄

The IKEA mirror (SÖRLI) was the same size as Vibelink, so I put it underneath 😂

The volume knob has the best feel ever on the WiiM 😊👌

I connected an Amazon basic 12 gauge cable to the included banana plug. The hole is 4mm in diameter, so cables up to 7 gauge may be used.

There are photos of the Ultra being considered for matching.

Maybe the legs are the same as Amp pro.

Plugs smaller than 15 mm appear to be insertable.

Here are some additional information not found in the manual.

[Auto Standby operation of the Vibelink amp]
View attachment 19118

LED indicate 3 different power conditions.
  • Bright LED: playing or idling
  • LED dimmed: in standby mode
  • LED off: in sleep mode
With the auto-standby feature, after 30 minutes of idling, the unit enters standby mode and the LED dims. After another 30 minutes, the LED will turn off completely and enter sleep mode.
(After 60 minutes without any playback, the unit will enter sleep mode.)

[Operation by Standby button on rear panel]
View attachment 19119

  • Short click: Standby on/off
  • Long click: Sleep on/off
  • Long click for 5 seconds: Reset
Currently, the device can only be automatically activated from a 12V trigger while in sleep mode. In the future, it will be possible to wake from sleep from the WiiM home app via Bluetooth.

Further supplement. Operation when the power cable is unplugged.

If the power cable is unplugged during standby and then plugged back in, Vibelink will start up. If it is in sleep mode, it will not start (LED remains off).

Thanks 🤗
Did you use the dac build in the amp since it’s newer?

Was there sound difference you notice between the two?

I haven't tried Line-in yet, but I may do a comparison over the weekend. (To be honest I don't usually do such comparisons very often. I like Optical and this is the only connection I can think of 😂.)

That's unfortunate, but the lack of sub out would have blatently obvious when you ordered it.
Hope you find the right piece of equipment for your needs.

A question about the new vibelink amp. is this better the a NAD 268 ? I have a wiim ultra with it.
Better is subjective and everyone has different opinion. Let say I gave you a Hershey chocolate and to me it was the finest. You did agree because of lack of sweetness or texture, etc. Nad known to be warm sounding with strong bass and mid and smooth highs.
