The wheel doesn't work at all, for volume or just to control the home screen. I have to do everything via the remote. I had to do a system reset on the Wiim app as I cannot use the wheel and still not working. The status light doesn't turn on either, even though it's toggled on on the app. I believe it's an hardware issue. This will be my second Wiim Ultra after the first had issues with the USB and line in ports not working. I have logged a ticket with Wiim Saturday, but I have not had a response

You cannot control the home screen with the wheel, it's really just a volume knob. The home screen is operated by tapping and swiping to the left or the right, it's a touchscreen. :)

The center of the volume knob should not only function as a status light, it's also a push button toggling between play and pause. If you push it, does a play or pause icon show up.on the touchscreen?

If not, it really could be a hardware issue where the entire subassembly does not get electrical power.

Did you file the ticket through the WiiM Home App on your mobile (the preferred method) or through the WiiM Help Center webpage? If you logged in with a valid email address you should have received an automated response very shortly after submitting your ticket(, which you wisely choose to not delete).

This email tells you to reply to it in case you want to be contacted personally, no matter if WiiM think they can fix the issue through new releases of app or firmware. With an issue like the volume knob not working I would suspect them to come back to you anyway, but replying to said email cannot hurt.

Good luck, hopefully your second Ultra doesn't turn out to be faulty, too. This would be a rare case, but it's not impossible, of course.

We have a saying that goes "All good things come in threes." :P

Seriously, this is not a common issue at all. Some people complain about the "cheap" or "gritty" feel of the knob and a slight wobble, which is all true but should be put into perspective at this price point. From the top of my head I cannot remember any completely dysfunctional knob on this forum so far.

You might be the first, even if this is a questionable honour. ;)

Well, if the 3rd unit has issues then I might have to call it a day and jump ship elsewhere 😔
