Hi. Could Wiim confirm that Vtuner doesn't work in the Wiim app anymore in the UK? It stopped working for me several months ago. I also have a LeMega internet radio which has stopped working as well which I believe also uses Vtuner. I did access the Vtuner website last week and that was still working.

Any info would be appreciated, thanks

I believe some radio stations don't work but most do. Which ones are you trying to play?

VTuner has been discussed at length here

VTuner are not very good at updating the URLs of the stations they have in their database.

Which stations are failing for you ?

Nothing will play. The station logos appear in the app but if I select anything it just times out. I had some favourites and they have disappeared as well. I put a ticket into Wiim but didn't get a reply😕
Since your original post, I have tried several different stations, and some don’t work, but many others do work.

it 'could' be that if you are in the UK since brexit there has been a clamp down on listening to stations outside the UK owing to licensing and copyright, thats one reason i dislike using 'tunein' .. plus the ads 🤬 .. not sure if this will affect all internet radio apps .. hopefully not.
If using a 'PC' a VPN works to allow access.

Thanks for the reply. I have tried a VPN with no luck. I have just connected a Arylic S10 to my network which uses the Wiim app to control it. Hey presto Vtuner works fine with the Acrylic so I think it's a problem with my mini.

That's just TuneIn as far as I know and nothing to do with Brexit.

no sure where you have placed the 'VPN' ie. is it on a phone or PC .. i use 'windscribe' on PC and iphone and it works for many things including radio apps.
Main thing is its working again (y)

I’m in the UK, and American stations are working for me.
i don't think america is in in Europe .. but its possible the US may impose some restrictions via copyright or performing arts legislation as companies monetise their 'interlectual property' or just push more advertising .. 'no such thing as a free lunch'

I am aware of that.

We aren't talking about UK broadcasters but TuneIn removing access to foreign broadcasts

but im guessing tunein has to follow international and national laws and regulations .. our IP address highlights our location and the apps can then apply restrictions

I blame Sony and Warner Brothers. We had access to international stations for years via TuneIn without any issues. It makes no sense as the stations are still available through other aggregators or using direct links.

this is the new 'connected' world, Internet Services Providers will also 'block' traffic that infringes rules and regs. Yes some options like 'direct links' will still work until the ISP restrict access based on IP address, thats where good VPNs come in.
Im sure when satelite tv first launched you could watch stuff from all over the place and then the men in greys suits put a stop to it .. there used to be some great Italian TV :ROFLMAO:
PS. as we become more dependant on our internet connection those with 8TB NAS drives will be :ROFLMAO:

Totally agree, although Tunein themselves must take some of the blame given they’re happy to run their service presumably at a profit but not pay the required licence fees - I recall going thru all this on UK Alexa groups because of the impact of a lot of radio stations being blocked from Tunein. And like you, I didn’t put it down to Brexit…
