What are you listening to?

I remember the single release of Fog on the Tyne. It isn’t really very representative of the album IMHO. I recently revisited the whole album and was surprised how good it is. Better than I remembered and certainly better than the single would have you believe
One of the band had a floating restaurant on the Tyne. As I recall the food was okayish.. Surprisingly, there was nothing about Lindisfarne in the restaurant's decor.

Here's another about the River Tyne and how important it was culturally and economically to the region:

I doubt @Achim1811 has heard of Jimmy but you never know. Probably now as un PC as the German’s episode in Fawlty Towers

The nostalgia of the Thatcher Years:

The nostalgia of the Thatcher Years:

Not quite what I remember in London and the South East as a 21 year old in 1979 but my memories are definitely in “black and white” or perhaps “greyscale” and certainly not in colour. It was grim but it was that grimness and reaction against the establishment that produced UK punk. From a music perspective me being 19 in 1977 was absolutely perfect. Perhaps being 19 in 1967 might have been in the same league but that’s it.

We lived in Konstanz between 1977 to 1982 - many memories. Bought my first Ry Cooder album just across the Swiss border at an old fashioned record shop in Kreuzlingen. Happy times!

I was in German Bundeswehr from 1972 to 1980. Hard decision to do so in those times. But as a fresh married man I never regretted taking this decision.
It felt right in a way....
Konstanz was in the French sector. Very occasionally the young 'soldats' would venture from their barracks into town - they always looked thin and hungry. Later, when the French garrison closed, the barracks were turned into student flats - sort of 'the pen is mightier than the sword' outcome. (and just what did happen to the promised Peace Dividend?!)

Mention of France leads me to a youthful favourite:

Will check that, be sure 😂
Are other speakers allowed? A pair of Q-Acoustics 3030i is still around.
I only used those as they’re the only other set of speakers aside from my Linn M109s that I have. The Denon is actually in my summer house (I know, hope springs eternal in the west of Scotland re having a summerhouse ;) ) driving an old pair of Celestion Ones which I used to use as rear speakers many years ago when I had an AVR and surround sound system. Perfectly listenable…

Those look like they'd be a good match, pricewise if nothing else, for the WiiM Amp. That would make a very affordable and capable second, or indeed first system for many people I'd guess

More now non-PC but not then covers

Many years ago, my wife was going into town. Seizing the opportunity, I asked her to get the latest Roxy album. It's the one with '2 girls on the cover' I told her. From then on, she never missed the chance to recount my request as an embarrassing example of English understatement.
