What are you listening to?

Getting serious, two suggestions for today.😊
First one

And this one i discovered in Qobuz's new releases of last week. I think it's their first album, but it sounds promising ;)

Today's special is Memphis Soul Stew!

Give me about a half a teacup of bass.
Now I need a pound of fatback drums.
Now give me four tablespoons of boiling Memphis guitars.
This goin' taste alright.
Now just a little pinch of organ.
Now give me a half a pint of horn.
Place on the burner and bring to a boil.

Now beat, well!

Has anyone done my rumors? 😂

I don't know if this is the right place for her. 🤔
But Ariana's voice is right in the middle of my strike zone.

She sings like floating in the air without frown once. And she seem to genuinely enjoy this space. 😊

And another great pop singer. I love this video. No matter how many times you watch it, it's fun and gives you goosebumps.
But to be honest, I rarely listen to her albums.😅

One last person.

She will always be the best singer for me.

Have a good weekend with your favorite music. 😉

I'll probably get a pasting but sadly much of today's musical offerings are rubbish - overcommercialised, derivative, repetitive, meaningless, and in the case of drill just plain nasty. Where has the wit and humour, the poetry, the inventiveness & originality gone?

We need a new Udo Lindenberg

I sort of agree. It's probably only a matter of time left before AI sweeps all before it and produces a fanfare for the common robot in the style of the Shindellas!

My DNA came from a copy of my parents' DNA. It is a repetitive thing that continues from the ancestors, and originality does not exist.

I do not deny the values and tastes of others. Even if it's terribly boring and unpleasant for me. 🙂

You are forgetting about randomness and mutation. .

I'm not denying anybody the opportunity or taste to consume whatever rubbish they want (in so far as this doesn't impact others).

At the end of the day or epoch it'll all just amount to a hill of beans, as my American cousins once would have said - nowadays it's more likely to be 'F**kin' sh*t happens, bro'.

Mutations are said to be caused by replication errors. In other words, it's a bug. The probability that it will give birth to a genius may be close to the probability that my Dachshund will give birth to a Doberman. 😂

But I'm not going to argue with anyone here about the music I love. That's it. 🙂

Final words from me before I head off to listen to 101 tracks of Cantonese Pop.

Given that we are aware of and recognise in a general sense the existence of geniuses, I'd posit that the probability is much higher - I don't know of any instances of your specific canine example other than crossbreeds (which isn't your argument in any case), so as it stands the probability of your doggy example is zero.

Here's some music for your dog. Sayonara!
