The only solution to get better audio quality than Bluetooth would actually be to have a USB dac built-in to the speaker. The phone would always have to be connected with a cable, but hey, at least it'll stay charged.

How can it deliver high quality sound from streaming not using WiFi? If you rely on Bluetooth it won’t be high quality and you’d only have limited control (like a physical remote control) from your phone.

Biggest pain to me is the absence of any FF-REW function, so I should chose a standalone player for my needs... or eagerly wait for some new nifty product from Wiim

Not enough devices is the answer to that, same for LDAC and LHDC.

Unexpectedly, What Hifi don't seem to grasp that lossless codecs like FLAC will show a lower bitrate without actually losing anything: "A CD audio file is 1,411kbps so you're always losing something here, though these claimed aptX Lossless figures are very close. Qualcomm says that 'no data is lost when audio is encoded and decoded with aptX Lossless'."
