What products you'd like to see WiiM produce?

Video streamer. Which is used as a video streamer and also as headless audio streamer, but the video output is still active for showing the same info as phone.

Can't see point of CD ripper, as the process on PC is far better- ability to rename tracks/album/titles easy on PC, replaygain scanning, album art, ability to do multiple versions etc

Not many asking for a ripper. Most just want the ability to play CDs.

Those devices already exist, they're called CD players, DVD or BD players, and can be had for peanuts.

Also probably find Wiim CD player to use a cheap and nasty CD transport with a springboard CD tray. Avoid slot loaders

An integrated wiim streamer and CD player could be handy (basically what the eversolo is)

What I'd want is the same feature found on the Eversolos - usb input for 3rd party cd player PLUS firmware/software support to look up disc metadata.

yes a seperate USB CD player with Wiim Ultra, or support for any off the shelf PC DVD-RW USB would be handy. I've tried adding DVD-RW to my picoreplayer LMS and it's not working

I spent hours investigating why a usb cd wouldn't work with piCore - gave up. Bought a cheap mini PC & run LMS 8.5 from that - attached usb cd runs fine with cd play plugin. If I was starting over I'd be seriously considering the Eversolo Play (which can also serve as an LMS endpoint).

Not having CD player on my network isn't critical for me, if I have a CD I'd rip it on the laptop transfer over to the NAS and run the picoreplayer/lms rescan. Done in a few minutes.

I set the cd up for my late wife who didn't take to all the digital streaming, etc. 😕

I don't use it much nowadays. But it's nice to have.

yeah I could see benefit of a networkable CD player, I have a CD player in the upstairs, but if it could transmit that data to any audio streamer in the other parts of the house it would be useful (until the CD disc is ripped/encoded/rescanned etc)

This exactly how CD-play on LMS works. The cd can be played on any endpoint. Also, the playing order can be playlisted/queued.

How does this work? I set up my Amazon Prime account in my WiiM, and then I tried pressing the mic button on my remote and the WiiM Ultra flashed red and I asked it to play a specific song and it did nothing, so then I tried holding the mic button down while asking it to play a specific song and it still didn’t do anything besides flash red for a couple of seconds.

Have you linked the WiiM home app to Alexa? That’s what enables voice interaction. The Amazon music link in the WiiM app is purely for the use of that within the WiiM app. Once you link Alexa, you should also see your WiiM device in the Alexa app.

Try a simple “Alexa, play some music”. If you only have Amazon Music Prime, you’ll find you’ll get “artist stations” rather than specific tracks or playlists - for that, you’d need Amazon Music Unlimited.

Yeah I figured it out; I also needed to set up Alexa, all good, works now. Will show my wife so she can use it if she wants. Very convenient thanks to the trigger control over the rest of the chain!

It did play the specific song that I asked for, even though I believe I only have Prime.

As I say, if you subscribe to Unlimited rather than just Prime, you can use a wide range of specific requests such as in this slightly outdated webpage https://smartenlight.com/alexa-music-voice-commands/

Video streamer isn't core to audio. There are competitive products that do this better now. I get it but it is a would work better in a full-on multimedia product. Other hardware would make sense. So if WiiM partnered with or bought UGreen (LoL) there would be a new product category where audio/video/NAS combined, it would be great. Roon+Plex but better! I'd subscribe monthly 🙂
