Well the add-on CD transport/ripper (with storage bank) seems like a great idea that has been mentioned already. Call it WiiM Spin…or something.

No need to post the same twice

I think this has been discussed several times before and conclusions were that the additional price for also having the analog parts is minimal compared to having a specific product without it.

If you don't want it, don't use it. It doesn't hurt.

Regarding the optic connection, clock and power supply, that is really not needed. You may (or may not) be able to measure a difference but you will not be able to hear anything different. So save the money for the speakers.

I just wanted to bring this topic up again. Because I love the Wiim products otherwise.

A lot of people are interested in a dedicated Wiim Transporter.

I can't imagine, even with the best will in the world, that a Wiim Ultra would sound completely the same as a T8. I've gained a lot of experience in this area, especially when it comes to power supplies (linear/switching power supplies).

Since I'm going directly into the DSP digitally, I don't need a converter + output stage.

But I do need a better power supply + better clock.

It shouldn't be a problem with my hardware. Acoustically perfected room with SBA, fully active Accuton/Tangband 2-way speakers.
