What products you'd like to see WiiM produce?

Please can we all get back to the original topic of this thread, which in case people have forgotten is,

What products you'd like to see WiiM produce?

Any other discussions should be posted in a more appropriate place in the forum.

Of course but not at the price of shutting down voices who hear differently, I’m sure you agree.

Well the add-on CD transport/ripper (with storage bank) seems like a great idea that has been mentioned already. Call it WiiM Spin…or something.

That makes every sense.

Hi.

No need to post the same twice ;)

I think this has been discussed several times before and conclusions were that the additional price for also having the analog parts is minimal compared to having a specific product without it.

If you don't want it, don't use it. It doesn't hurt.

Regarding the optic connection, clock and power supply, that is really not needed. You may (or may not) be able to measure a difference but you will not be able to hear anything different. So save the money for the speakers.
I just wanted to bring this topic up again. Because I love the Wiim products otherwise.

A lot of people are interested in a dedicated Wiim Transporter.

I can't imagine, even with the best will in the world, that a Wiim Ultra would sound completely the same as a T8. I've gained a lot of experience in this area, especially when it comes to power supplies (linear/switching power supplies).

Since I'm going directly into the DSP digitally, I don't need a converter + output stage.

But I do need a better power supply + better clock.

It shouldn't be a problem with my hardware. Acoustically perfected room with SBA, fully active Accuton/Tangband 2-way speakers.

What is SBA?

Acoustically perfected room... :giggle:
(for power supplies...I'm sure you should share your experience with raam from this forum)

You guys should find this funny…

I bought a USB attached CD/DVD reader to plug into my Eversolo T8. First thing I tested was playback. Works great, automagically pulls the album cover art & track names from the cloud the moment it scans the disc and also starts playback on its own. Next I decide to test the ripping feature so I start a rip, and it stops playing—the Eversolo can’t stream music while ripping. Guess that’s fair…

So since my Marantz M1 supports Qobuz Connect on its own, I pull up Qobuz, sync to the M1, and then I go search Qobuz for the same album that I am ripping, only to discover that not only is it on Qobuz anyway, but it is there in high-res 96KHz/24-bit on top of that, so better quality than my own CD. 🫠

That’s what I get for choosing Andrea Bocelli’s Sogno as my test album!

But… what was the original digital tape? 44.1 or 96? If 44.1 the original may actually be preferable, all depending on how good the upsampling is.

How can one even find this out?

-Ed

That CD is pretty old. Likely recorded RedBook. If upsampling that does not preserve original samples is problematic.

Edit: I meant… if upsampling. One can upsample and preserve original samples but it takes a special algorithm.

Want to very much see a higher end Ultra or Pro Plus (streamer) with internal hard drive option, emi shielding material, external power supply option and drum roll….

SFP fiber input. 🕵️‍♀️

I would like a dac with the top ESS pro chips in a dual mono configuration and a discrete output stage with class A mosfets. And of course a balanced output.

is there a new streaming dac planned for release this or next year that will be an audiophile version of ultra lets say?
