What products you'd like to see WiiM produce?

If we're at this...

How about a simple WiiM Product that takes the eARC over HDMI and decodes the surround into multichannel audio? 7.1 to begin with. 7.1.4 would be a killer.
I agree it would be a killer product for those who know how and have/buy the needed gear. Killer-of-home-[WiFi]-networks product for others:sneaky:.

I would like the Ultra to have a more functional HDMI implementation - I would like pause/play etc. but HDMI In and Out with OSD menus & now playing info... it would need 4K/8K pass-through of course, but some DSP audio tricks and complementary video buffering could be cool.

On the 5.1 surround front, I can appreciate the walk-before-run rollout strategy. A potential cust experience & support nightmare.

A mono amp with life input for those of us who want to run an outdoor sub and not want to steal power from other speakers, I know I can stack another WiiM amp, but who wants to pay the price for another streaming amp when it’s overkill. It’s also hard to find a good option anymore.
A WiiM soundbar, to compete with Sonos. Stacking amps to have 5.1 is way too expensive. I. Could buy a decent receiver for cheaper. A decent wall mountable soundbar with the speakers built in to cover the center channel and left and right or the option of just the center and amp as left and right.
Make it compatible with atmos so you can add an amp to drive atmos height speakers . This would teach Sonos a lesson. When I used to install, so many people were sold Sonos soundbars with an amp thinking the amp would drive height Channels, but the only option was the stupid upward firing off the arc. Take a lesson of what every one wishes your competitor offered , and make it possible with your product.

What products would you like to see based on what you've experienced so far?
a cd player with the same footprint and looks than the wiim ultra, a non streaming amp with the same footprint and looks than the wiim ultra, an updated version of the ultra that has a good quality headphone amplifier capable of driving planar headphones

Doesn't the vibelink satisfy your second request?

Wishlist : Class A discrete solid state preamp, 3 unbalanced rca analog inputs ,inbuilt high quality power supply added to existing wiim pro plus would be great.
Why ? Wiim streamer app is superb.A discrete Class A preamp will truly make it a one box solution!

1. Definitely a CD player. Don't make it portable. Don't make it steep. Just a DAC-less CD transport with a front drawer for loading.

2. Yes...but I'm really not sure about the HP amp. You're looking at adding £100+ for something many won't use, and those who are big on headphones will have, or will want to buy their own anyway. The Ultra is already doing a lot of heavy lifting with a streamer, DAC, pre-amp switching/volume, room correction, bass management and sub out.

I've just seen the new Fosi S3, it's like a screen-less Ultra with balanced outs, otherwise missing a few ins and outs. I'd go for optical in, coax in, 2 x line in * (bring your own pre amp if you have a turntable), better ADC, 1 x each optical, coax, line and blanced outs. Perhaps offer a vanilla version, and one with built in CD.

* Question. If you have 2 x line ins, can you get by with just 1 ADC, as you can't use both at once? I mean you only have one DAC as you only output one thing at once.

Just while we're here, I'd offer the following. Forgetting smart speakers, subs, and amps, and just focussing on the streamers.

These dates are when I gather they became available on Amazon UK, but I don't suppose other countries will vary too much.

Mini - May '22
Pro - March '23
Pro Plus - September '23
Ultra - July '24

Those are gaps of between 6 and 10 months between releases of streamers, but it's now been a further 20 months, and still waiting.

I'm guessing the next streamer(s) will require less work than a completely new device.

A CD Player would look good on top of my Ultra/Vibelink stack if it was the same dimensions.

Unfortunately, automatic meta data look up is generally very poor, and the results are frequently incorrect, and missing lots of information, and are also full of spelling mistakes.🤔
It could be the same people use for CD ripping. To my experience it's usually ok.

I've ripped a good number of CDs in my time and I'd say I've had reasonable accuracy with most CDs' automatic meta data pulls from the web. Probably 93-97% accurate.
