Seems some marketeers don't believe youDigitising analog streams being "a bad thing" is another of these hi fi beliefs
When I look at the fashion mistakes my parents and lots of the 60, 70 and 80s artists made I am lucky flared trousers and plateau soles will have a comeback earliest when I am too old for it.![]()
Was born in 79, so I did not really remember how I was dressed in the very early 80s. When looking at some pictures from the then adults I am glad about. Ciao for now, clock changed, the night was long and dirty and a hangover will be waiting for sure(1) I never had disco clothes or Star jeans.
(2) In the very early 80s I wore Levi's, Hush Puppies and Lacoste shirts to the punk clubs in Hollywood and Huntington Beach. I was the true rebel... got lots of respect from the punks.
...not the reply I was hoping to getIt definitely wasn't because I didn't feel like going back a page to the comment where someone had tagged me and asked for more details and so I just posted it as a general response instead of a reply.
With your Levis, Hush Puppies and Lacoste shirt, the punks tolerated you at best as a strange mascot and put up with you(1) I never had disco clothes or Star jeans.

OK, and I don’t mean to sound dismissive: they were US punks (I’ve done a bit of research into the punk movement in the US). In Germany, punks were definitely an authentical deal... And I reckon that’s even more true in the UKMost of the punks were under 21... I had a college degree, a job, my own place, a running car and a credit card that wasn't maxed...
Girls loved me.
Oh, I met this punk one night at the bar. While the kids were body slamming each other to death, we were at the bar drinking boiler makers. He had the most awesome mohawk with spikes... about five inches long. So we started shooting the breeze... turns out he had a business BA from USC and was the assistant manager at a Radio Shack up in Reseda.
I asked him about his hair and ear piercings... He said he washed it all out (lots of hair spray) and took out his piercings when he went to work. He wore clip on ties to his job.
We both thought it was really funny.

...don't eat the yellow snowHollywood punks. The best.
You can keep those grimy, working class, angry proletariat Euros away from SoCal.
We're just white punks on dope
Mommy and daddy live in Hollywood
And I'd hung myself
If I had some rope.

Then you had the Valley Girls. Oh, so sweet!
I absolutely despise the New Yorkers and Easterners who make fun of us....
I mean, yes, I take THE northbound 405 to THE eastbound 55, then all the way to THE 91 and then THE 15. That how we go to VEGAS from THE OC.
That SNL article about "The Californians" was just a bunch of jealousy from people living in grimy cold, wet places.
Pfffft.... heck, I met my wife "Hey babe, you wanna dance?". It was out of a Frank Zappa moment. I dug Soul Train, she did American Bandstand... yet we loved dancing together.
Still together.... happily... in THE OC. Our Lips Are Sealed...

That was a glorious time... The GoGos, Fun stuff, before AIDS, before Mothers Against Every Thing That Is Fun. Zappa was alive and making some awesome music.

Yes. WiiM appears to have the skills to deliver such products. Producing a 'WiiM AV Ultra' could build on the winning formula. Done right, it would allow buyers to gently shove their $$$$ [but largely obsolete] AVR aside as a power-amp or whatever role(s) it's suited for.In the HT world, there is a hole for affordable surround decoders with simple switching.

I think WiiM is almost there with the parts of the puzzle, just needs to put it together.. Also make it look nice, not like those AVRs that are UGLY and overly complicated... and tend to make your HT obsolete every three years when the surround licenses change.
