What speakers are you using?

So has anyone compiled a list of speakers that work(or not) with the Wiim amp?
The more input the better and those amps will fly off the shelves,I have a wiim pro plus on active speakers but need an amp and maybe a set of Dalis

Why should anyone come up with such a list? ;) Most people are happy with one or two pairs of speakers, at most.

In fact, the WiiM Amp works very well with most all speakers. You probably won't want to use it with multi-way speakers peaking above 8 ohms in the treble region or speakers dipping below 3 ohms in the bass region. Adding a sub is also a very good idea, in particular if you are after elevated levels.

Not all Dali speakers are the same (which ones do you consider) but they are usually an easy load.

There are quite a few threads discussing speakers.

I thought I’d just open one to the group where members can say what speakers they’re I turn on the Wiim maybe what their experiences are.

I mean every single WiiM Amp owner must be using speakers. 🤣

Possibly it’ll prove to be a good database for the future, and reduce the number of people asking for recommendations, etc.

Over to you.
I've just received my Wiim Ultra, I have it connected to a pair of Q Acoustic m40s with a Q Accoustics 3060 sub. Just starting to get the hang of it. Quick question how should I connect it to the speakers via the RCA out or Bluetooth, I have it connected via RCA out but it doesn't power up the speakers when I turn on the Wiim, I presume via Bluetooth, it will? Cheers

See my footage… 😊
The 2. sub is on the right side wall, it was best in regards to modes and „room overall performance“ … 😅 and the little box right of the Amp is not there anymore. It was my former streamer (Logitech Squeezebox). The WiiM Pro+ is in the drawer. There is also a Metrum NOS DAC - but it s not in use, as I really like the DAC of the WiiM box!

Hello, Q Acoustics 3030i / QED XT25 cable / Norstone Stylum 3 feet with the new amp WiiM Amp Pro

The sound is really perfect👌🏼🕺🏼🔊☑️💯🤘🏼View attachment 13638
Glad you like it! I am unsure if I will order a pro as the only Amazon order for it seems to suggest it has no sound to it.

I hade high hopes for the WiiM Amp Pro. I’m disappointed. It sounds obviously worse than my midrange Onkyo AVR I’ve had for the better part of a decade on all 3 sets of speakers I have. Every single set of speakers exhibits the same introduced characteristics. And the most obvious is vocals sound like they’re running through some kind of digitizing robot filter. Play Chris Jones’ No Sanctuary Here and within seconds of him singing you hear what I can’t but describe as artifacts… almost like the sound you get on really cheap Pyle car stereos. Switch back to my Onkyo, it’s way better.

Now, I have a Yamaha RN2000A as well. Obviously I expect it to be better than an Onkyo AVR (it is… notably), but I actually expected the WiiM might fall somewhere in-between. Nope. It’s worse than both. It makes every single speaker pair I have sound brighter than they ever have. This thing has the exact same sound signature as early Class D car audio amplifiers, before JL Audio finally figured it out (enough for a car). That signature is that weird, abrasive brightness intermixed with ground flat details and separation. This WiiM amp is like playing MP3s from back in the day when you pilfered them off of Napster or wherever. Just… not good.

100% of my reference songs sound worse. Don’t tell me a Class D amp needs to “break in”. It’s had 10 hours of listening to do so. That’s enough… this isn’t a tube amp. It’s not going to get better. This is sufficient at best for a bedroom speaker setup, office, outdoor speakers, or maybe a boat. Something where you aren’t remotely trying to truly enjoy in the moment. It’s not going to satisfy anyone who’s got even a tinge of audiophile."

Was the first and only text review at the time of looking.

I wouldn’t base my decision on one random review tbh…

Here's another one
"Had a Rega Brio, much awarded british amplifier. After the Wiim Amp it just sounds old, to be sold it goes. This little box is amazing! With room correction! A fast and clean DAC. The best software control for sound and music. Thanks Wiim programers and designers"

You seem to be artificially frustrated 😉

Each set of speakers has the same characteristics introduced. And the most obvious is that the voices seem to go through a kind of robotic scanning filter. Listen to Chris Jones' No Sanctuary Here and a few seconds after he sings, you hear what I can only describe as artefacts... almost like the sound you get on the really cheap Pyle car radios. Now I also have a Yamaha RN2000A. Obviously, I expect it to be better than an Onkyo AVR (it is... notably), but I actually expected the WiiM to be somewhere between the two. No. He is worse than the two. It makes every pair of speakers I have brighter than ever. This machine has exactly the same sound signature as the first Class D car audio amplifiers, before JL Audio finally discovered it (enough for a car). This signature is this strange abrasive shine intertwined with flat details and separation. This WiiM amp is like playing MP3s of the past, when you picked them on Napster or elsewhere. It's just... not good.

100% of my reference songs sound worse. Don't tell me that a class D amplifier needs to be "run-in". He had 10 hours of listening to do it. That's enough... it's not a tube amp. He will not improve. This is sufficient at best for a bedroom speaker configuration, a desk, outdoor speakers or maybe a boat. Something you don't really try to enjoy at the moment. This will not satisfy anyone with even a point of audiophile. "

Given what you just wrote to me, I'm still going to get a Yamaha RN 803 from a friend to make a comparison... I'm curious to see if there's a difference. each amp, speaker, listening location and ear is different. there are so many parameters. I can just tell you that I'm extremely happy with this wim in Pro while the Loxjie A30 was clearly not, but I still used it for 3 years telling myself that the sound wasn't bad but that there was still something that didn't work with my speakers. in your case, it's like a surprise that it doesn't work with any of your speakers. would there be a problem?
