Just ordered a construction toy that I really liked as a small boy over 60 years ago - Triang's Arkitex box #2. Arkitex was an all-plastic (although I recall the little red/blue panels being metal) construction toy produced by Triang from c.1959 to c.1965, and manufactured I believe in N.Ireland, UK. It was available in 1/42 and OO scales and mainly depicted typical 1960's modern office blocks. I loved the way you built the skeleton structure with small yellow girders, then slotted in different wall panels - a lot less fiddly than lego and quicker to build.

I had mentioned this in discussion with a friend recently but was struggling to recall its name, but finally managed to find it thru Google and Ebay where I saw a not too bad condition box on sale. It might not be complete and will probably need some TLC and cleaning, but I will bring back some memories and, who knows, I might even get my great nephews interested in it in which case they can have it. If not, it might end up back on Ebay!

So what similar totally age inappropriate items have you bought on a whim?

I didn't actually buy this item though I searched a long time trying to find it. The kit originally belonged to my older brother though I inherited it as I got older. I believe I was less than 12 years old when I started experimenting with the kit, never worrying about being exposed to 120 volts AC on the back panel. I assembled my first AM radio and wireless transmitter with this "toy".

There’s one on eBay but you could almost buy a WiiM Ultra for the price they’re asking!

I guess it was this time last year.

I bought the controller on impulse, even though I didn't have an Xbox..

No, I decided to try some cloud gaming on my FireTV.

I got sick (drunk) about half an hour into playing Indiana Jones. And never saw it again.
