What's your setup/configuration look like?

The Radikal was an eye opener.. It lowered the noise so much that I decided to go forward with the Keel and Ekos 2. Now upgrading from Lingo to Lingo 4. Also did the Ortofon Cadenza Black and got the Burson op amps for the preamp.

Oh... @EddNog Sorry to break this on you... in regards to your end game speakers...

The field coil driver is an interesting design.. let's see how much it costs. Audio Note is shipping one but it is EXPENSIVE...

Andrew Jones confirmed that he is still with MoFi as well and still also designing stuff for them (probably more down to earth pricing than his own company’s).

My Lone Pine is Karousel / Keel / Trampolin 2 / Lingo (4) / Ekos 2 / Ortofon Credenza Black and DIY Pearl 2 and Pearl 3 preamps. The Pearl 3 has balanced outputs and supports opamp rolling.

I did think of going to the Radikal but I'm using external phono preamps... more boxes, more cables, more lights, more opamps, more switches, etc... balanced and single ended every which way.

If funny, when you meet a Linn owner we always describe our babies like that.

Must be boring being a Technics owner. They are always hunting down for their perfect speed, so direct they are... must be they are phased locked into their loops. ;) ;) ;)

Some day I might sell the Pearl 2. The bill of materials for that one alone was 1400 bucks. The Pearl 3 is not as adjustable but once I got rid of the Grado low output moving iron my needs got much simpler. The P3 does have a lower noise floor. But at this point, we're really are counting how many angels fit on the head of a pin.

But excuse me for going off on a tangent - that for sure doesn’t belong here.

Why, are you jealous or something? You a Technics owner?

My turntable sits alongside a WiiM Ultra in the main rig system. So it sure qualifies.

Yes, but what's really interesting is the use of the field coil. It promises a very good sounding speaker. Matched with his penchant for a large coaxial speaker and his gift for voicing this could be a true Desert Island job. Let's see how much it costs though.

I dare say it might be too expensive and/or exotic for Elac to manufacture. Audio Note gets away with it because they are in a higher price echelon... they don't sell anything in large volume into the mass market.

No, but I am so tired of discussions what a hobby is allowed to cost. I do it for more than 20 years now. The LP is the summit of a beside that mid class setup. Marantz, Lehmann, MoFi, thats it.

Some people have Porsches, some people have Hondas.

I have a whole bunch of DIY stuff that is based on decabucks designs, or in some cases, designs that will never make it to a manufacturer's products because it doesn't make much sense ( like the Nitsch DAC ). My LP12 is one of the few commercial pieces I have... and like all such, I collect them for many years. I've owned that LP12 since '92.

It's a hobby. It's not Bose or Apple.

NOTE: I have Hondas... I also have autographed CART Powered By Honda posters... with Zanardi, no less!

My friends all drive Porsches, I must make amends
Worked hard all my lifetime, no help from my friends
So, oh, Lord, won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz?

Just got some Dali Epicon 6 with the Ultra freaking awesome. About ready to go get my REGA P8 and Aria MK3 phono preamp out here. The Ultra is kicking ass🤘🤘🤘

Very nice speakers indeed. And you got them in walnut which makes them even nicer.

If you now replace that fancy tube amp with a state-of-the-art class-D Purifi amp you can also kick out the sub and have a much sleeker setup.

The idea of replacing this beautiful EVO300 with another black brick makes me feel sick. Are measurements really more important than beauty? And do not try to tell me one gets hear damage when choosing the PrimaLuna.

Would be great to see some pictures of your setup with WiiM product and exact audio configuration to give others some ideas and recommendations:cool:.

Beauty lies in the eye of the beholder. I for my part don‘t like the looks of such tube gadgets at all. Plus you can choose your amp‘s colour with some manufacturers. I could have had my Apollon in yellow or orange. I was tempted .. 😂., but finally decided to stay with grey.
My remark was not directed at reducing distortion but at dramatically increasing wattage output and the ability to utilize the bass of the Epicons.

And you think a guy with such a setup and - thats what I think - the wish to share his enthusiasm for his WiiM needs or even wants such an advice?

I’m not sure you understand the output transformers on these it’s not about wattage. Not sure why people bash tubes. This amp tilts the scales with seventy pounds of copper and steel transformers. I’ve heard 300 watt chip amps that can come close to this to it in bass slam it is incredible. And the sub is driven by the output transformers not some cheap solid state op amps. And getting rid of a Rel which opens the sound stage and gives me sub bass is not a great idea either. Just my humble opinion, have you ever heard a Rel🤦‍♂️😊😂And I have a NAD C399 awesome amp but not near the slam or as open as the Luna. And I can switch out to the Floyd Hybrid with a tube pre and a solid state amp. But I’m sure you would poopoo that too🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️😂 Do some research on how the tubes are run on PrimaLuna’s tubes last along time on these amps. They don’t have that mushy tube sound which is what I’m sure you think all tube amps sound like. Or what you say are gadgets. This amp will be around a lot longer than some Purifi amp I can guarantee that.
