What's your setup/configuration look like?

Beauty lies in the eye of the beholder. I for my part don‘t like the looks of such tube gadgets at all. Plus you can choose your amp‘s colour with some manufacturers. I could have had my Apollon in yellow or orange. I was tempted .. ., but finally decided to stay with grey.
My remark was not directed at reducing distortion but at dramatically increasing wattage output and the ability to utilize the bass of the Epicons.

Ok opinions. A class D amp is not going to make me get more low bass these speakers in room can get into the 25 hertz range range adding more wattage from a class D amp will not change that. Taking the Rel out will definitely make me lose that sub bass and close down the soundstage. It’s crossed over at 30hertz. That’s all the Dalis need again a class D amp won’t add that back

I’m not sure you understand the output transformers on these it’s not about wattage. Not sure why people bash tubes. This amp tilts the scales with seventy pounds of copper and steel transformers. I’ve heard 300 watt chip amps that can come close to this to it in bass slam it is incredible. And the sub is driven by the output transformers not some cheap solid state op amps. And getting rid of a Rel which opens the sound stage and gives me sub bass is not a great idea either. Just my humble opinion, have you ever heard a RelAnd I have a NAD C399 awesome amp but not near the slam or as open as the Luna. And I can switch out to the Floyd Hybrid with a tube pre and a solid state amp. But I’m sure you would poopoo that too Do some research on how the tubes are run on PrimaLuna’s tubes last along time on these amps. They don’t have that mushy tube sound which is what I’m sure you think all tube amps sound like. Or what you say are gadgets. This amp will be around a lot longer than some Purifi amp I can guarantee that.

I wasn‘t taking about a weakish NAD amp but a 9040BA Purifi implementation. It will render the purest amplification in a home application across the complete frequency band. At low levels it will not sound better or even different than any other well designed amp. But turning up the volume only moderately differences will become apparent. Hence my initial remark about the possibility to dismiss your sub.

So you poo poo something you know nothing about. And I haven’t said anything about the deficiencies of class D, but I can go on and on about that as well like they sound a little bit dark/ closed in in the treble, still though they’ve come a long way. And they can’t match the openness of tubes. And that a tube amp running four KT 120s can have just as much if not more bass slam than a class D amp. And it’s not just about amplification. It’s about the preamp and the source as well. May I ask what your system is and what your speakers are. Sounds like you came from ASR right over to the WiiM forum to bash what I choose to use as equipment. It all about the measurements And I’m definitely doing what I like again can we see your system? I’ll post some more pictures when I get mine fully set up. This is just in my family room. You probably wouldn’t poo my home theater. I use all solid state amplification.

So again, you bashed another company Nad. Do you enjoy music or is it more about the equipment and bashing other people’s choice of equipment? So nad is weakish. I think it’s time for you to go listen to your. Class D Purifi amps since they are the best in the world

Audio sources (main): Spotify and Wiim Open Network Stream

Wiim pro (optical out) -> SMSL D6 DAC (TRS) -> Mackie MR524 (active studio monitors)
Used calibration mic recently to make the RoomFit room correction and it sounds fantastic now.

SMSL has a RCA out too, besides TRS.
I connected that DAC RCA out to Audioengine S8 subwoofer but the sound is too loud, I can rotate the knob for 5mm only.
Rotating it more than that it becomes unbearably boomy. I'll have to add an attenuator
