I am a fan of the IDAGIO classical music streaming service because of the way they organize their search function. I have a WIIM Ultra, and the only way of accessing that from the IDAGIO App is through the Google Cast (= Chromecast). However, that is not working sufficiently well for recordings having a shift of track in the middle of a movement since the Google Cast then causes an artificial (and very irritating!) pause in the music stream. In other recordings, I often experiences that the Google Cast jumps over a track. For these reasons, I strongly hope that the IDAGIO soon will be included as a music service in the WIIM Ultra. They have previously indicated that this could happen before the end of 2025. Now we are in March 2026. I hope that that they at least could give a new deadline for when the IDAGIO will be available as a music service in the WIIM app.

I think it has been downgraded on the WiiM roadmap to having no specified date for implementation. Sad as it means me moving away from WiiM or Idagio.

I hope that IDAGIO still is relative high on WIIM's roadmap. Isn't it a win-win situation for both WIIM and IDAGIO to integrate?

I begin by saying that I am generally happy with my Wiim Amp Pro.

I subscribe to Idagio, chiefly because their classical music collection is huge and because they take steps to see that the artists are fairly compensated.

It seems the only way I can stream from Idagio to my Wiim Amp Pro is using ChromeCast (I use an Android phone). This is NOT satisfactory for several reasons: chief among them is that there are ~10 second delays between each movement or section of each piece. This is very annoying and interferes with enjoyment of the piece. Also, it is not possible to use the voice feature on the Wiim remote, again, a major shortcoming.

I have communicated with Idagio and from what I understand, the only good way around these issues is for Wiim and Idagio to get together and arrange wifi streaming between the two.

When I search "Idagio" on the Wiim home site, the AI summary reads:

"Idagio is not currently supported on WiiM devices. It is listed under “New Music Services” that we’re thinking about for future updates . Please note that features on the roadmap may change, but we appreciate your interest and feedback as we continue to expand service integrations.

I don't think I need to go into the downside of using Bluetooth, which is one of the suggestions offered. I have detailed above the problems I experience with ChromeCast.

I have also tried Amazon Music Unlimited and find that not satisfactory, either. Despite requesting a whole work (e.g., a Beethoven string concerto), I cannot get Alexa to do more than play only one movement and then 'a selection of related pieces' Aside from that major shortcoming, Idagio seems to be the only service that makes the effort to fairly compensate the artists.

PLEASE Wiim, listen to your customers and GET THIS DONE!

Did you take the recent survey yet?

If you are using Alexa and want to play a whole album, you need to explicitly ask for that e.g. "Alexa, play the album xyz by abc", but tbh voice control of classical albums won't be a great experience.

If you link your Alexa account to the WiiM home app, you can then use the Amazon music app to "AlexaCast" what you want to your WiiM device by choosing it from the list of devices which appears when you click on the cast icon. If you choose the WiiM device with the round cast icon beside its name, you'll get bit perfect resolution up to 24/192 to your WiiM, whereas if you choose the WiiM device with the rectangular cast icon beside its name, it'll use Chromecast and you'll be lucky to get anything better than HD quality.

TU Burnside. I did try explicitly telling Alexa I wanted to play the whole piece (symphony, concerto, or whatever) not just one movement, but that did not work. I admit I have no clue as to how to link the Alexa account to the Wiim home app. At any rate, after a month of frustration including attempting to get tech support, I gave up on Alexa and cancelled the subscription.

I would really prefer Idagio if they could just get this done. I think the stream quality would be fine for my purposes. I find I am satisfied with my CD's through the optical connection to the Wiim Amp Pro. I use the 'Loudness' EQ pre-made setting. (My wife objects if I crank things up to hear the quiet passages in-between the loud ones (think Saint-Saëns' [Organ] Symphony #3). I do wish the compression was a bit stronger even with that EQ profile. Even with it, I have trouble hearing the quiet passages. (It's even worse listening to classical in the car with the ambient noise level.) 😊
