Which DAC is better?

Before buying a long enough Toslink cable to test things:
What would be the technically better DAC towards my old NAD C370 amplifier (which has RCA-connectors for input only):
the one in my new WiiM Pro Plus or the one in my 2009 NAD C565BEE CD-player (apparently "two Wolfson 24bit / 192 kHz DAC-chips in Dual Differential configuration", exact type not known)???
Idea's?
(The WiiM alone produces heavenly sounds from Qobuz already 🤭)

One might expect the one that's 15 years younger to be technically better.
This seems to tell me what you already know ;) 'The WiiM alone produces heavenly sounds from Qobuz already'.

No way you can move things a bit to not need a longer cable to try it for yourself?
How will you play Qobuz via a cd player??

'Moving things a bit' is harder than expected 😉.
WiiM to CD-player DAC through Toslink, then CD-player to Amp through RCA.

Hey,

I'm running a separate DAC downstream from my WiiM pro plus via coax, will an optical cable from my CD player to the WiiM actually work?

Or would I need to run the optical cable from the CD player directly to the downstream DAC?

Guess I just answered my own question, why WOULD I run it through the Wiim??

Welcome any cmments!!

For room correction (though not an acronym) see e.g. here:

GEQ = Graphic Equaliser

Adjust the level at 10 fixed center frequcies.

You can select any of the predefined settings or store your own.

PEQ = Parametric Equaliser

Select up to 10 individual frequencies and apply either peak or low shelf or high shelf filters at each frequency. You can adjust the level (= gain, positive or negative) and the steepness (= Q) individually.

You can store any number if presents. Room correction occupies one preset

Interesting question.
Wonder what the WiiM would 'add' to the signal between Toslink in and Toslink out. Does it's DAC convert it to analog first and back to optical or pass the digital simply through as received?
BTW: GAC and PAC are Graphic and Parametric equaliser respectively, meaning that they would indeed 'add to' (= process) the digital (or converted analog) signal when they and room correction can kick in.

Digital signal modification, if you want it. Not to analog and back again.
EQ, PEQ, sample rate conversion.

Edit: and Volume, which you can clearly see I simply forgot if you keep reading...

Well, my initial question was about cabling from the WiiM but the responses didn’t address the question.

You asked why would you run your CD player through the WiiM. Answer was for room correction, GEQ and PEQ. Then you asked what the acronyms meant.
