Received an update with a bit different build number and date
I don't see a different build number.

Build numbers are what counts in the end. They must be unique. Build date or release date are just additional information. In theory there could be three releases on the same day.

My bad, build number is indeed the same as in this thread. Maybe wiim ultra update discussion has been flashing too frequently in my sight

Got it since 20 minutes.
Missing the display-off or the clock-screen when using hdmi arc for my TV.... 🫩

No surprise, since this hasn't been announced. ;)
It was announced....

Display & UI:

  1. Per-Input Now Playing: Customize the Now Playing screen for each input source.
But a VU meter as option is useless for using TV sound.....

Maybe for music concerts on TV.....

@WiiM Team @WiiM Support I hope this FW will 1) include a toggle switch (from the app) / function to disengage auto sense/select which today causes the amp to highjack any signal from the hdmi arc or any other input. 2) A fix so not to get stuck in BT when tapping through source select from the remote. 3) A fix to why it will only play the first sets of (flac) tracks in albums in my NW NAS (OK from usb).

Regards Håvar

It's customisable now and it wasn't before. Where did you read that "display off" or the "clock screen" would be available?

People asked for this but so far WiiM didn't promise it would come with this or any other specific firmware version. :) It may well come at any point in time,.of course, so there's hope for you and others.

Hi everyone,

My WiiM Amp Ultra suddenly stopped appearing in Roon, even though all my other WiiM devices still show up normally.

The Amp Ultra is reachable on the network and seems to be working otherwise. Spotify Connect works, Chromecast works, and I can ping the device with no issues. But Roon doesn’t see it anywhere — not under Roon Ready, AirPlay, or other network devices.

I’m currently on firmware 5.2.809633. When the firmware update first popped up I hit “Not Now” because I was busy with my kids. Later when I opened the app again the firmware screen briefly appeared and then disappeared. The device now reports that the firmware is up to date.

I’ve done quite a bit of troubleshooting already. I rebooted the device, toggled the Roon Ready setting off and back on, restarted my Roon Core, and even did a full factory reset of the Amp Ultra. None of that changed anything.

For reference, I’m running a UniFi network with a Dream Machine SE. The Amp Ultra is connected via Ethernet. Roon Core runs on a Mac and I use Pi-hole for DNS, although my other WiiM devices work fine with the same setup.

I also ran a couple of network checks. The device responds to ping, and the Chromecast port (8009) is open. But the RAAT port (9200) refuses the connection, which makes me think the RAAT service simply isn’t running on the device.

Right now I can stream from Roon using Chromecast as a workaround, but the Amp Ultra never appears as a Roon Ready endpoint.

Has anyone seen this happen before after a firmware update? I’m wondering if the RAAT service failed to start and whether a firmware reinstall might fix it.

Thanks for any ideas.

TL, DR:

My WiiM Amp Ultra no longer appears in Roon after updating to firmware 5.2.809633. Other WiiM devices work fine. Chromecast and Spotify work, but RAAT port 9200 is closed, so it looks like the Roon service isn’t running. Tried rebooting and factory reset — no luck.

Thanks for any ideas.
Welcome.

Just the usual one for now - remove the power for 1 minute.
Unfortunately there're no active betas for the amp ultra to install a different version yourself.

If all else fails, use the app to send feedback and wiim may put you back on the previous version.

Edit: I'm assuming Roon Ready is enabled in Music Services / More Streaming Services?
Particularly the latter.

Hello everyone,

I confirm the Roon ready issue after updating firmware on WiiM Amp Ultra. WiiM Pro on the same local network doesn't have such issues and is available for streaming via Roon.

Thanks for confirming!

Looks like we all have the same issue.

Already tried removing power. Did a factory reset too. Roon ready was enabled and disabled and then re-enabled many times just to check.

Since another posted mentioned having the same issue, looks like a firmware problem.

I’m curious if anyone has Roon Ready working on this firmware? And of course, I tried restarting, toggling the corresponding switch off and on, and restarting the Roon server.

Yes, I played myself to sleep last night using Roon to WiiM Amp Ultra. And this AM some coffee-time with Roon to WiiM Pro Plus (older firmware to show it still worked).

I am still realing from the fact I said it was obvious they were going to make a Wiim Amp ultra. People got really upset over that and decided they were going to bully me for days without end. Maybe it's because I said anyone with eyes could see that coming. Cue people now telling me I was calling them blind. My point is what sounds ok in my mind when I type can come across as not very helpful or nice to others when they read it. If Ryan didn't step in to calm everyone down i hate to know where it would have gone. I mean I least I didn't say blind as a bat 😂 but we need to think and type.

I just updated to the newest firmware on my Wii Sound Lites and they too have disappears from my list of Roon Ready devices. This is crazy!
