WiiM Amp Ultra question

The WiiM Amp Ultra is available in limited quantities today on Amazon. I don't know if I "need" the benefits of the 100W per channel or the dual TI PA chips over the WiiM Amp Pro. But what would be interesting to me is if the DSP is an upgrade- not that the DSP is bad in the WiiM Amp Pro. I find when I stick to the graphical EQ it does well, but the WiiM Amp Pro has come up with some funky latency adjustments and EQ adjustments that did not sound good when I used them. I don't see any description of a tangible benefit of the Amp Ultra's DSP hardware or software in the product description, but now that it's launched maybe WiiM can comment?

There's no reason to assume that WiiM would move away from their trusted Amlogic A113 platform.

Admittedly, I don't see a reason to, because I think there are most likely other reasons than when EQ and delay settings didn't sound well in your setup.

Yeah, using an iPhone microphone is dubious. I should try with a better mic. But still, it would be nice if they have enough headroom to offer more audio processing features/performance over time. Maybe they already have that in the A113 platform. For instance more accuracy on the PFFB, the room correction, the delay processing etc... Anyway, its' not clear if they are using the same Amlogic platform or not for the Amp Ultra.

PFFB is a hardware feature, not a DSP function. WiiMs implementation is quite OK with the Amp Pro and about perfect (as good as the best) with the Vibelink Amp. I'm sure the Amp Pro will be at least as good in this area.

As WiiM are actively working on features like independent room correction and PEQ, which can be applied on top of each other, I assume there is still some processing power available. :)

Correct, it's not clear until WiiM say so ... or the first buyer will post the result of the getStatusEx HTTP API command. ;)

I'm willing to offer you a $100 bet, though. 😁
