Dear Wiim community - long story short - purchased the Wiim Amp 4 months ago in Ger to bring it back home to Seychelles to power up my beloved Sunfire xt satellites and true subwoofer after my big old Yamaha (120 W total) had finally packed up with which I could blow the roof off.... Wiim Amp is beautiful, very light and small with, by spec, more power than the old Yamaha which is the reason I went for it (and budget....). Finally got back yesterday - all well connected and set up, powered on and all working with the expected really good clear sound emerging - amazingly differentiated and clear - I am NO expert at all - but thank you Wiim. Bluetooth from my phone and line in from my computer. Will have to learn about streaming.... BUT - I cannot blow the roof off - the volume/getting it really loud is disappointing - am I doing something wrong ? I read a few threads and saw people reduce output limit to not blow out their speakers. Sunfire loves full power and on the app I have set 100% limit.
Please help or let me know if my expectations were possibly too high. Thank you very much and have a lovely day of (loud) music. KDK

Don't be afraid to use the full range of volume control up to 100%. The WiiM Amp will never sound worse with the knob fully turned. You do not need any "resereve" here.

If you still cannot get the desired loudness then your sources are most probably "too low" in level for the WiiM Amp to put out its full power. I would expect this to be less of a problem with Bluetoot (if the volume is fully up on the phone) than with the line input, right?

The solution in this case is to add pre-gain to the input that appears to low in level. Go to device settings (the gear/cog icon on the device tile) => Audio Input and expand the Pre-Gain section. Here you can add positive (or even negative) gain per input. If you go over the top, hard digital clipping will occur and you are guaranteed to hear that. Instantly.

thank you harkpabst ! - bluetooth/computer line in are about the same - will check that pre-gain function when back on the system.
Will report back. Thank you for your time !

thx again harkpabst - have done some first testing and it does appear to get "louder" - at the expense of quality but still need to work on that by using the same actual music input. Also will dig out my cd/dvd player and get some post-vinyl system to test the reachable volumes. Maybe getting too old at nearly 70 to hear properly..... - lets see what the neighbours say. Thanks and I will stay in touch - needs time here in Sey ! Take care
