Hello everyone ,

I recently purchased an Wiim Mini so I can add it to my current setup.

I have some questions regarding RC and my curent setup

Elac DCB41 powered speakers Freq Response 66hz - 25k Anechoic and 50 hz - 25 k in room

Q Acoustics 3060S Freq Response 35 hz - 250 hz ( connected to Elac sub out port )

I will connect wiim mini to optical port in Elac Speakers

If i will run RC on the wiim mini should i run it with the subwoofer connected / or without it since the wiim mini and Elac ( sub out ) doesnt have any bass management. From Elac i know that the sub out is crossovered from 200hz below and I have it set on 100 hz on Q acoustics so it complement the small speakers better. On forums i read that with RC function its better to run it from 50 hz to maximum of 500 hz.

Any advice is well reagarded. Thank you in advance

Welcome!

Based on the specs alone I'd probably set the Q Acoustics 3060S crossover frequency to ~70Hz (i.e. where the Elacs natural roll-off is happening), and set WiiM RC correction range to 35Hz - 500Hz, and the B&K target curve.

Do you have a measurement microphone (e.g. UMIK-1) and know how to use REW?
If yes, some in-room response measurements with REW would help to be better able to asses your situation.
If not, I'd suggest to run the WiiM RC with the subwoofer connected and active, and post screenshots from the app here - including the response prior to correction and after it.

Based on that I may be able to advise on some potential changes/optimizations.

By the way, how are the loudspeakers and sub positioned in the room? How close are they to the walls?
Regarding loudspeaker/subwoofer placement, I usually recommend to read this really nice illustrated loudspeaker/subwoofer placement guide by Genelec.

Hope this helps!

I second the recommendation to run RC with the subwoofer connected, just because neither the WiiM Mini nor the DCB41 offer bass management. :)

For WiiM's RC the sub and active speakers are just like one left and one right speaker. It doesn't even know about the sub's existence, but might be able to iron out some of the issues caused by non-perfect integration. It still makes sense to integrate speakers and sub as well as possible before you start with RC.

Start with speaker placement (if you have the freedom to do so). If you cannot perform measurements, basically follow the instructions in the 3060 S manual.

Two additions: a) Don't be afraid to place the sub closer to a wall. The room correction process will take care of any excessive boom. b) Be prepared to iteratively change the crossover frequency and sub level several times (and make sure to try both positions of the "phase" switch every time you change the crossover frequency.
