I posted this a couple of days ago over on the Facebook WiiM Official Fan page. At Pete Bready's suggestion I'm reposting here.

Hi All, I have a WiiM Pro+ connected to a Denafrips Ares2 DAC and onto my Integrated Amp. The Pro+ is pointed at my local music flac files, shared via wifi from my Router, where the USB is plugged in. Well that all works fine and music plays
🙂
except the artwork only shows up once an album starts to play. I'm using jpg artwork and even tried creating a cover.jpg file loaded into one of the album directories to test it, but to no avail. I can't get any usb album arkwork to display, unless i press play on a track. The flac files were generated by MediaHuman Audio Converter from my iTunes library. The cover artwork appears fine in my laptops Windows Media Player and in iTunes.

Ideally I want to be able to browse my local USB library like I can Amazon Music, iTunes or WMP. I want to do that without the added hassel of having to run a NAS and had hoped USB might be the answer. I have a 1TB Samsung T7 SSD ready to plug into the Router with 1300 albums if this works.
Your suggestions much appreciated as to whether the Pro+ can do this and if so what I might be missing in getting it to work?
Thanks

Done, although I haven't rentered all the details as they're already here.
I have included the attachments, which illustrate the missing artwork issue.
thx

If you're browsing your collection over a samba share (Home Music Share > Add Shared Folder) then I'm afraid that's to be expected; artwork is only available during playback.
Is there a DLNA server available on the router?

Thanks for your quick reply simbun.
Yes I'm using sambra share.
Yes it appears there is a DLNA Media Server too, despite what Google says.
I've just turned it on and it's found my USB Directories and Files and appears in my Home Music Share list.
So I've disabled the SAMBA Shared Folder.
The Media Server has found all the Music Directories and Album files on the USB, but still no cover artwork.
Is there anything I need to turn on in the Wiim?

There's nothing to configure in the WiiM Home app.
Try browsing your media server with BubbleUPnP (Android) or mconnect (IOS); do they show artwork?

Looking at the FB post, I think it mentions the artwork is embedded rather than in separate folder.jpg files
Assuming it's MiniDLNA embedded artwork should be fine, as should folder.jpg/cover.jpg which apparently the OP has already tried.

As soon as I read "iTunes library" I think the worst (I believe it stores artwork in a database rather than in/alongside the files), but WMP is apparently fine so hopefully that's not the problem.

Downloaded BubbleUPnP and found the DLNA Server and USB files, but they've been expanded out of the Directories I had them in. Artwork shows up for most Tracks, but not on the page where the Albums are listed. Also some Albums only display artwork on 40% of the tracks.

Are you browsing the Folders index?
If your server is based on MiniDLNA I'd expect to see something like:
Code:
Albums
All Music
Artist
Folders
...

Artwork shows up for most Tracks, but not on the page where the Albums are listed.
In Folders view each folder requires its own folder.jpg/cover.jpg.
In tag view (every index other than Folders) albums inherit artwork from their tracks.
