wait and see

Yes. Personally, I'm glad the firmware update has been pulled. I would rather wait for a stable functioning version over a rushed, problematic release.

This was the eventual reply to my ticket:

"Due to the significant changes included in this update, the rollout for the WiiM Pro Plus is being carried out in stages. Currently, only a small number of devices have been upgraded to the latest version, and we are continuing to monitor the process. Please wait patiently for a while."

I think that misses the point in why it’s visible as a beta, not public release.

I have two WiiM Pro Plus'es.
One of them I was able to upgrade, but not the other.
Is the upgrade queue based on MAC address or serial number, or something :)

I have no confirmation from WiiM that this firmware version is a Beta release, although I have asked numerous times for clarification here and in my ticket. To date, that clarification has not been forthcoming. However, I think it's safe to assume that this was only a Beta release, or a rushed release with numerous bugs, which seems to be happening a lot of late. Happy to wait for a working version, as I said. :)

The main thing is that it doesn't cause more problems...
I hope,( having had some perspective on the Wiim updates concerning audio , and here, impact on the input Toslink,) ,that this part will have been seriously checked...
and the rest of the "audio"
;-)

I registered a support ticket with WiiM regarding the different upgrade dates for my two WiiM Pro Plus'es.
This is the answer I got:
"Before today, the firmware update for the WiiM Pro Plus had only been rolled out to a limited number of devices. The full release began today. We took this phased approach to ensure there were no major issues before making the update available to all users."
Case closed :)
