Its a month since the last firmware upgrade for the Ultra, I guess its gonna be surround sound ability thats coming very soon.

If you look at roadmap, they got everything out mostly in beta.
Plus many more outstanding features and bug fixes.

I'm waiting for the HDMI CEC Power Control "off" enhancement (that has finished Beta test) and the better utilization of the Ultra display with a proper VU meter and updated look and feel.

A few of us are waiting for naming/icon assigning for Smart Presets.

I think then there could be tweaks to the display.

But considering it was a pretty excellent finished product on release, it’s been on a hell if a journey.

It reach the end of roadmap. I don’t see anything new. After the beta get release officially we just get bug fix. Unlike before, we get consistent updates with feature after feature.

No problems for me with gapless playback from my local NAS running Twonky.

However, in the app if I try and skip a bit of a track dragging the track time bar it keeps moving as if playing the track but no audio output until the next track (using line output).

My biggest complaint is the limit of 500 or 502 music tracks in the music queue. I like to just leave it playing my playlists of between 558 and 3000 tracks but when selected all the unit plays is 502 tracks :( The limit should be 5000 tracks at least.
Oh no. I thought at least if 3,000 tracks queued then it would go through the entire list and not stop at 500 tracks. Often I like to shuffle play across my entire track library list. I find it genuinely hard to understand how my WiiM Ultra, given its positioning and purpose, still cant reliably do something as basic as shuffle play across an entire NAS library via its own ecosystem.

Right now I either use a separate DAP with a copied library or drive the Ultra via an app such as mconnect, just to have my shuffle all tracks and go experience. I have given up on setting up playlists / presets capped at 500 tracks as as a workaround.

It feels wrong for a product like this. It should be core functionality and not something we should need to work around with external players or other apps. Shuffle play on all songs has been a normal music playing function since the early mainstream ipod era. The Wiim limitation here feels so jarring to me, as it clashes with something folk have taken for granted for decades. Anyway sorry rant over :)

edit - asorry I didnt realise this was an older post I was responding to. However even if Wiim players now play a 3,000 track queue, my main point above still holds.

Hi @Jumii,

Sorry for the inconvenience caused!

We’ll look into this issue and work on improving the queue limitation.

Thanks very much for the response and for taking this on board, I really appreciate it!! I am a huge fan of Wiim and use separate devices to drive audio/visual for both my study and 2 x lounge/ living areas. Look forward to enjoying your kit for many years to come!
