Is it me or are this a correct design feature of the Ultra. When the device is off, why does it switch itself on when touched ? This is very annoying because if I want to reconfigure cables it means that I first need to unplug it from the mains . Standby mode on any devise should be a sufficient setting before unplugging cables safely

The WiiM devices are never off.
So if you don't want to change cables with it on, start by removing the power.

Well that was my point. I shouldn't have to unplug it from the mains. It shouldn't be turning itself on just because the screen is touched This is a stupid feature. My cat can turn the Ultra on with her paw.

Its screen is a touchscreen and I’d hazard a guess that most users would be annoyed if touching it didn’t bring it out of standby. Have a word with your cat ;)

One more time: It's never off until you unplug it from the power. And the behaviour that looks so stupid to you is certainly what others want.

What should wake up the WiiM Ultra in your world? Is the app good enough or should that be restricted to the hardware remote? ;)

Personally, I never touch the touchscreen on purpose to wake the Ultra from stand-by, and I could live with this being absent or configurable. But that's just me. And I really don't mind that I could.

Send WiiM feedback through the WiiM Home app and suggest how you would like it to work. They might or might not make something out of that.

(Strike-through edits in the interests of de-escalation)

Whats with the one more time crap? Yeah, my phone is a touch screen and its off when its off until I switch it on. Then and only then does the touch screen operate. Keep your personal opinions to yourself

I suppose it might be possible for wiim to add an option so that, for example, the volume knob needs to be pressed to awaken from standby rather than the touch screen. That's about as close to a phone power button as I can think of to satisfy this use case.

Sounds like the cat would suss that out quickly 🤣🤣

Yep. That cat certainly stands out. Super brain cat (at least relatively super).
Sorry, I don't understand.
Could you explain it to me. One. More. Time.

Edit: I did a web search in case this was some meme or something I'm blissfully unaware of.
The closest I found was a book series 'The Adventures of Brain The Super Cat'.

A German compound bound would actually be written like Superbraincat, her paw would be the Superbraincatpaw, of course. Hope that cleared things up a bit.

A cat with a super powerful brain and paw.

What is the remote for? It turns on the device and it puts it in to a sort of standby mode . I can "wake the device" by touching it but I can't put it into sleep by touching it? Is it a bad design or is it because of the Alexa app needs to be able to power up when summoned? Even though I have disabled Alexa, according to WiiM, the Ultra will spring into action if it is needed. Every other piece of HIFI equipment that I've owned , the remote will turn the device on and also off in the way that I've described. They all stay off until switched back on from standby mode. I see that this standby subject has already been debated last year in several posts regarding power consumption, especially when in standby. There are at least 2 contributors of this thread also contributing to those threads of last year. (Isn't that right harkpabst ). No product should be getting warm when in standby, what a ridiculous reply that you gave to the member that dared to question why the unit is getting warm when its supposedly off. Did you understand the question? The Ultra gets warm when it's off. That can only mean that it's drawing excessive power. The whole point of stand by is to reduce carbon footprint. I found these and other threads by asking google for power consumption spec info on the WiiM ultra. My Marantz PM6006 consumes 0.3w in standby mode, not even the L.E.D gets warm . I can't find any official data regarding the power consumption of the Ultra, but according to WiiM it should be on here somewhere. Hopefully not by getting crap from another member.

You seem to be confusing network standby with standby. the PM6006 is not a network device.

I have many network devices in my house without power switch: Fire stick, Echo, router, smart IR controller, etc... All of these work fine.

Sorry, but I think your cat tapping on the Ultra screen is your problem.
