Hi guys, I've been using Wiim Ultra for about a month and while on one hand I got the settings I was looking for, on the other there are still some situations that the system doesn't seem to be able to handle. Here is one of them:

I use 3 prevalent 'scenarios':

1) input NAS (flac files) - output external usb nuwave DAC + nait xs AMPLIFIER (bit perfect wiim set) with volume control by nait

2) input HDMI ARC (TV) - output headphone (I need volume control from Wiim because ampli does not have headphone output)

3) input NAS (flac files) - output headphone (again I need headphone Wiim ampli..)
I'm looking for a way to have these 3 presets where in the first the system keeps the volume control OFF with volume at 100 (bit perfect) and two others where it is enabled to be managed by the Wiim remote control.

This without having to manually change the setting every time.

In fact, trying to work on the presets section of the app, it seems that setting different volumes for the 3 scenarios and setting the volume for the bit perfect at 100% DOES NOT COINCIDE with having the bit perfect setting (which seems to be obtained only by checking the relevant 'fixed volume output' option which unfortunately
inhibits the separate management of the volumes in the preset..)

Am I missing a way to do this?

Thank you

Isn't setting volume to 100% equivalent to "fixed volume output"?

reading the manual and the little info here and there it would seem not. In fact, by setting it to 100% the volume can still be modified and is not 'excluded'. It is therefore not known whether the internal PRE section or any other process on the signal are really deactivated.

Anyway, if this were the case, it would be enough to have certainty from the parent company..

thank you

With Lyrion setting volume manually to 100% is the same as setting fixed volume at 100% so the same probably applies to WiiM. Just don't touch the volume controls 🙂

If you wish that certainty rather than the responses in this user forum, raise a ticket direct to WiiM via the more/feedback section in the WiiM home app. Please let us know what they say :)

Answer:

Dear Simone,

Thank you for contacting us.

Manually setting the volume to 100% has the same effect as enabling the fixed output volume feature. However, please note that once fixed output volume is enabled, the volume can no longer be adjusted.

We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Best Regards,
WiiM Support
