no problemo for me about the input in analogic and not numerised ...
really ;-)
(especially since I have no interest in this machine ;-) )
just dac and amplificateur type of amp pro ...

(In any case, it is necessary to clarify and resolve the situation encountered on this entry seen in the asr review..once the thing is settled, the comparison between DAC and analog to the measurement, or compared to other machines of the same type but them on analog input will be interesting.)

And at a bargain price ... ;)

Wow! £359.

They did say they were going to reduce the price, so either the reported £319 (or was it £329?) reported was right and WiiM have actually misled us and put the price up, or WiiM were telling the truth, and it should have been more. Say £400 ? ;)

But all that is window dressing. At £359, that’s still not a particularly competitive price vs other power amps with better specs.

We've not seen an updated price direct from WiiM yet to the best of my knowledge, and given it matches the price of the WiiM Amp in the USA, I'd expect the same here tbh

Peachtree GAN 1? Or VTV’s amp based on the same internals?
These or anything claiming a direct digital conversion from PCM to PWM. The TACT Millennium (developed by Lars Risbo) is said to have been the first working commercial design to implement this approach.

Some claim that a "power DAC" is still something else, but that's mostly splitting hairs. Some claim that "not needing any feedback" is a big advantage, others state that not being able to apply feedback (because this concept doesn't fit well with digital processing) is the all important disadvantage.

Anyway, the least common denominator is that there's no separate DAC implemented in a power DAC.

I've gone ahead and (pre)ordered a unit for audition.

If it sounds good enough to replace my SMSL trio (D400 Pro & dual PA200s), I can resell those and end up making money on this whole affair, as well as reducing clutter and complexity. And if it doesn't, I can simply return it.

The digital input/integrated DAC is key here because I use an external room correction module with digital outputs only, so I cannot normally utilize the WiiM Ultra's internal DAC. And no, the WiiM room correction does not come even close to the results of my separate room correction unit (DSPeaker Anti-Mode X2D--selected because their room correction is simultaneously excellent performing and as easy to use as it can possibly get, yet the X2D avoids the pitfalls of the poorly-performing analog output stage on the older Anti-Mode 2.0).

In silver at richersounds. uk £319

So it is exactly the same price that What Hifi quoted right at the beginning of this thread despite WiiM saying prices mentioned in the thread were incorrect 🤔

I think it was the $400 figure that was wrong as it didn't correspond to the GBP figure going by the price of other WiiM devices.

Hifi-pig are quoting April availability for the UK btw...

I think in the What Hifi article they were just converting £319 to dollars using an exchange rate and we know that isn't how prices are determined 🤣. They didn't actually say what the US selling price would be even if Audio Science Review thought they did.

Yeah, let’s blame them 😉🤣

Hey everyone, I've got the official forum announcement up here. I'm going to close this thread and we can continue the discussion on the product on the new thread since it's got all the correct info in it! Thanks all for your excited discussion about this new product, we've been watching it even though we've mostly stayed out since we hadn't done our official announcement.
