Hi everyone
I have a problem with the media library of my CDs. It is a 512Gb SSD with around 8200 titles. The problem is that when I scan the SSD, I have wrong cover pictures of about 10 CDs every time after scan the USB Library. Then check it with mp3Tag program, everything is fine. I noticed that when I play a CD and then go to the list of the CD, you see wrong little images in the list of some titles. Why could this be, is the collection too large, can the WiiM Ultra Amp not handle it, or is there a special procedure for the folder structure? Has anyone else observed this problem?
Regards Frank

I hate dealing with stuff like this but let's try anyway. ;) Could it be you happen to have both, embedded cover art and a folder.jpg or cover.jpg file in the same folder as said CDs?

Or perhaps front and back covers embedded?
Your‘re not using iTunes by any chance? I suspect not as you would most probably not use MP3Tag if you did😉.

That can be, of course. The in the folders still individual jpg. Files are located. Will check it out in a minute.
No I don't use itunes but mp3Tag. There is always only one cover image embedded.
Thanks 🙏

I‘m not sure if there‘s a size (pixels) or file size limit with WiiMs.
Do the files with the missing/wrong covers have exceptionally large covers?

MiniDLNA is the open source media server upon which WiiM is based:
  • Track level artwork (Now Playing screen and Queue): Uses embedded (type 3 - Front) where available, falling back to external
  • Album level artwork (Album index and Album view): Uses the embedded artwork from the first track of the album if available, falling back to external
Do you recognise the incorrect artwork, as it shouldn't pull from unrelated (different folder/album tag) tracks?

Too bad that didn't work, I deleted all jpg pics in the folders, the problem persists. ☹️
Bummer. :(

If you want to make absolutely sure that the WiiM scanning and indexing starts from scratch, eject the USB drive, connect it to your computer, delete the folder named "wiim_cache", delete the WiiM Home App cache (if you're on Android) and reinsert the USB drive.

Good luck.

The app I use runs on iPad Pro, I can't find a cache here. Of course, I have already tried this option with deleting the WiiM Cache folder on the Windows PC, without success. Newly indexed, again some covers wrong. When I use after complete scan the fast scan option , than some other CDs are show wrong cover, and those that were displayed incorrectly before will then be displayed correctly ☹️

Try browsing the media server using the iOS app mconnect, as this will help narrow down the problem (index on Amp or WiiM Home App).
Do the affected albums have unique names (album tags)?

Don‘t you have a PC? You should really delete everything on the SSD except your library. That won‘t work with an iPad.

On mconnect app shows me the same wrong cover Pics.
The Names are correctly, but I see some double Song Numbers in mconnect List.
I check it tomorrow
Thanks 🙏

What I do not understand, with the program MP3Tag on Windows, all images are displayed absolutely correctly for each individual title. I have looked through it completely "all 8200 titles" where the error should be. Could it be the IOS app with the iPad?

The WiiM Home App holds (at least) parts of the index in its own cache. You can delete the app cache on Android, but not on iOS or iPadOS. On Apple devices you'd have to delete the app and reinstall it to get rid of the cache.

There's no guarantee that this will solve your problem, it's just one more option.

I meant are there name conflicts with the effected albums e.g. Greatest Hits?

MiniDLNA assigns tracks to albums based purely on the album tag, so albums with the same name appear as one in the Album index (and thus share album artwork). I think WiiM have addressed this but I'm not completely sure.

If the problem is visible from mconnect then I don't think it can be an app problem.

But he‘s using track artwork by his own account. Individual covers embedded in the track files will show up correctly in mconnect even if they are all in the same album folder and share the same album tag. I have several of those and there‘s no problem.
BlueOS cannot handle this correctly. Also foobar mobile couldn‘t do it until a few months ago. They were following the logic of one album = one cover. Solved in foobar mobile, but not so in BueOS. Mconnect however is doing it correctly in the current version.

If that's the case - and the server was operating as designed - I don't think they'd be experiencing the problem in mconnect.

Sounds like albums are getting merged, though not enough detail to tell really.

Are you saying that albums with the same name (different AlbumArtist) aren't merged in the Album index when browsing the WiiM server through mconnect? That's not the case with MiniDLNA so implies WiiM have implemented a fix to the device server (as opposed to the WHA).
