YouTube music

Hi any update to supporting YouTube Music. Google cast is not the greatest
Any reason why you say that? Given the limited resolution of YouTube Music, I wouldn’t have thought that Chromecast use from the YouTube app would have been an issue.

Hi cnaimo, team

We're very close to releasing this. I hope we can release it in a few weeks. Please stay tuned! Thank you for your continued patience and support.
I've been waiting for YouTube music support since I bought WiiM products. For certain genres and locations, YouTube Music is #1 music streaming.

Bought my Wii Pro over a year ago, and to this day, I cannot use it for what I thought it would do, which is to play high-resolution music to my amp. I already pay for YouTube Music, and I'm not a fan of Tidal's interface or recommendations, or paying for another service.

If you would just add YouTube Music high res, or the subsonic API so I can stream from my personal navidrome server... That would be great.

YouTube Music even at its highest level is 256kbps AAC and is more than able to be sent to a WiiM device over Chromecast from the YouTube Music app, so personally I don’t see what benefit having it inside the WiiM home app will bring - it’ll probably be less feature rich than the native YouTube app. Fine if you want to use just one app to play to WiiM devices if you can live with what it might offer.

If you’re serious audiophile you would stay away from YouTube or other similar services. There are several choices like qoboz, Amazon and tidal. I could care less of interface because I don’t listen to interface I want absolute high quality source.

Audiophile or not, what you hear is a unique psychophysiological process to the individual. It's sort of 'suck it and hear' so damning one service over another is rather pointless 😁

Your high quality gear won’t sound best if you feed them with low quality source.

It’s like Amazon calling their 16 bit tracks HD and 24 bit UHD - there are different names all over the place…

I switched from YTM to Qobuz for the higher quality, but in terms of use and experience, YTM is way better at following your listening habits/suggesting music similar to your preferences. Qobuz seems to just suggest whatever they pick to highlight. I discovered loads more new artists while on YTM. I think next I'll try TIDAL.

Just as a little side topic whilst talking about hi res, You tube music and being an "audiophile".
I went to see an Audiologist at my local Hospital 3 years as I felt I couldn't really tell my hi res tracks from standard resolution music.
It turned out that my ears were basically rubbish. I got chatting to the audiologist and she said she had lots of patients with similar problems to me. Nothing could be done to reverse it, just old age and a lifetime of being in noisy environments. I told her I considered myself a bit of an audiophile and she replied,
"well you ain't no more".
So all you "audiophiles" out there, enjoy it while you can, it may not last forever. 😂
