IMHO constant comparisons (be it between gear or settings) seems to be a common behaviour among audiophiles.
It seems that through this many forget to listen to music, and instead seem to use music to try and listen to the gear. I don't really see how comparing two DACs or two different speakers is any better than comparing two RoomFit or EQ profiles. None of that counts as music enjoyment in my book (at least not in the sense of appreciating its artistic value).
But as with many things in life, an all-or-nothing attitude usually won't bring optimal results.
RoomFit and EQ are absolutely very useful tools, but only if used appropriately - which unfortunately requires a bit of a learning curve at the start.
But in the end they should be viewed as a set-once-and-forget kind of thing, basically a part of initial system setup, together with optimizing placement and subwoofer integration.
Kind of like we should buy speakers once and then just enjoy music.
But I do appreciate this is not trivial, and that many will get poor results in first attempts - especially if using default settings provided by WiiM, and if placement is not optimized first.
Spoken from my own experience, since it took me some months, a few books and a lot of trial and error before I really understood how to do all this correctly and get consistently good results. It was IMHO very much worth it - but then again, I'm much deeper in audio engineering than the average person.
It is why I try to help people with these topics here - to try and make the learning curve at least slightly less steep for others.
