Hi,

I’m having some issues with Amazon Music integration. I’m using a WiiM Ultra along with an iOS device, and I noticed that Amazon Music seems to only be available through the WiiM app.

The built-in Amazon Music interface in the WiiM app is extremely limited — the UI is clunky, and essential features like starting a song radio or adding a track to a playlist appear to be missing. Is this really the only way to access Amazon Music on WiiM?

If so, are there plans to improve this integration, or offer native Amazon Music support outside the WiiM app?

Connect to your WiiM device using AlexaCast in the Amazon music app, which gives you access to almost all features of Amazon music.
(However, AlexaCaat is not available in some countries.)

Thanks for the instructions! I believe I followed everything correctly — Alexa is on, and I enabled Ultra HD in both the Amazon app and on the WiiM. However, it seems like it’s still streaming via AirPlay and is limited to 16-bit/44.1 kHz. Any ideas?
Given the ultra doesn’t support airplay, it’s perhaps using Chromecast which is limited to Amazon HD. When you selected the Ultra in the target speaker list, you may have selected the rectangular Chromecast entry rather than the round casting icon which is AlexaCast.

I believe I was streaming using Google Cast. Are you referring to the round icon? I’m actually unable to click on it at all

Are you sure you enabled Alexa for the Ultra in the WiiM Home app using the same credentials as your Amazon Music app? If you have, you should be able to see the Ultra in the Alexa app as well.
Another possibility is that AlexaCast isn’t supported in your region even though Alexa and Amazon Music are - where are you based?

I am based in Poland. Just checked I login in with the same data

The middle entry saying MP3 is a bit puzzling - do you have an Amazon Music Unlimited account, and have you checked the settings in the Amazon Music app re streaming quality?

That’s it - AlexaCast isn’t supported by Amazon in Poland.
You can get round that by changing your default marketplace/region in your Amazon/alexa account although that might upset other subscriptions. What Amazon region do you use for Alexa, and which do you use for Amazon Music?

I am using for both Amazon.com accounts

Accounts plural or account singular? You should just be using the one Amazon account for both Alexa and for Amazon music. Also, in your Amazon account, under manage your content and devices, preferences, country/region settings, what’s that set to? If it’s still a Polish address, that might be throwing it.

Yes, I’m using the same account for both. It’s the one I originally set up for the US region, and although I changed the address to UK, unfortunately it still didn’t work.

Try changing it to a USA zip code - try 10101. Also, disable Alexa in the WiiM home app then re-enable it as your WiiM may still be registered against other account details, and choose English US as your language too so that as much as possible ties up to a .com and US region setting.

If that fails, even though it’s an Alexa related issue, sending WiiM a ticket via the more/feedback section of the WiiM home app may allow them to spot something in your device logs.

What’s even more interesting is that I can stream via AlexaCast through the Alexa app.

But I cannot do it on Amazon music app

If I were being pedantic, I wouldn’t classify the use of the Alexa app as using AlexaCast - I tend to reserve that term only for casting from the Amazon music app to another device. But I may be wrong ;)

I’m struggling to think what to check next - if you’re signed into the Amazon music app with for example email account abc.com, that Amazon account has its country/region set to a USA zip code, you’ve disabled and re-enabled Alexa in the WiiM home app for your Ultra using abc.com as well, then those should tick all the boxes. Last things I’d maybe check are in the Alexa app itself where you see your Ultra, check under more/settings/about to make sure Alexa is using USA servers under host name, and maybe even change the Ultra’s address under its settings to the address used in the abc.com Amazon account settings.

If all fails, I think we might to call in the cavalry and submit a ticket to WiiM…

I think both are the same, at least at the moment: if you play music in the Alexa app and then open the Amazon music app, it is connected to your WiiM device via AlexaCast. (I think you know this.)

@EddieMurphy ,

If you open the Amazon music app while music is playing in the Alexa app, what does the playing screen look like?

In my case, it appears like this.

The Cast icon glows blue to indicate that you are connected via AlexaCast.

Is nothing playing on the Amazon music app in your case?

Could changing the language of the phone solve the problem?
