Any harm with leaving the Ultra on 24/7?

To offset the issue of the Ultra not staying on the last input used (after power off) or having a setting to chose the input on power up I thought leaving it powered up was a good alternative. I set the display to that it would be off after 30 seconds in standby and shut of the status light. With that is there any harm with leaving the Ultra powered up 24/7?

Power consumption.

Not really worried about that as it would most likely be minimal. I'm more concerned about the Ultra itself. But some leave all their components on 24/7.
The WiiM Ultra is built to be on all the time, so if you don't care about power consumption (about 40 kWh per year) and the resulting pollution just leave it on.

Huh? So now I'm someone that has no concern for the environment? This is when the ignore function is such a great option.

I have been a Mini user for over 2 years now and have left all my WiiM devices on 24/7. So far I have not had any breakage or problems.😄

Depends what you call minimal. Some users have measured no difference in power consumption between standby and normal use, around 5W.

No harm with leaving any audio stuff on 24/7, my living room amp has been on 24/7 for most of it's life and it was made in 1982, still works perfectly.

It's also free heating in the winter ;)

I was thinking about this today. My WiiM Pro Plus doesn't appear to have an Off function and seems to be in standby mode all the time. Is the only way to power off by unplugging from the power supply?
Yes, it is.

If you want to turn off the power completely, you will need to use a switched tap or smart tap.

I’ve always thought if a piece of kit didn’t have a power switch (off and on) then it must be designed to be on 24/7 , hopefully someone from Wiim will confirm or otherwise

No problem to have Ultra on 24/7. Power consumption is minimal.

If by off you mean standby i have three devices from WiiM on standby all the time. They maintain wifi connection and I see my Amp checking in every so often with a flashing light. My neighbors who have their pole lamp on 24/7....don't get me started.

Thanks again for all the thoughts on this! I did mean in standby which guessing is using minimal power consumption. I have a Pro and Mini which it never crossed my mind that they're always on in standby when not being used.

Sorry if it came out as a personal attack. It was not. All I wanted to point out is that all the devices we have in some kind of standby, for convenience only, may contribute to the environmental issues we are witnessing.

No worries at all. The environment and being responsible are always in my thoughts. But short of being off the grid one will be consuming electricity.
