When i select different modes in audio channel i hear no difference my connection is optical in and coaxial out. I was thinking maybe it only works with rca in but before i buy a set of cables i thought i ask.

It's not clear to me what you mean by different audio channel modes.
Could you be more specific and state exactly what you are doing in the app?

Sure. Under Audio Settings select Audio Channel and it will give you 4 options to select from Stereo, Mono, Left, Right
Currently using an ultra streaming tidal and using usb out and choosing different options is clearly different, especially stereo vs mono.
I have played with these settings on minis and pros before and I'm sure they apply globally, i.e. all inputs / outputs.

Were you just playing with settings or is there a reason you don't want the stereo default?

Yea i was playing with the settings and noticed that it does nothing no sound change on any of the four options. And because there is no sound change im not sure which one of the modes its on.

Unless you have something else set up incorrectly somewhere, the difference between stereo and mono ought to be obvious.
Play something that you know has sounds bouncing around betwen the two speakers.

Please try connecting your phone to the WiiM via Bluetooth and play a video like this one for checking.

Note that selecting
will cause the left channel audio to be output from the left and right speakers. The same applies to
.

Ok that worked perfectly its definitely in stereo mode. I dont think ill ever have a need for the other 3 options but still curious why they dont work. Thanks for sending that test.

Wow the funny thing with that test is
If i set wiim to left chanel option and play the audio file the left sound plays on both speakers the right sound plays nothing and both plays on both.
If i set wiim to right channel option the left sound is nothing the right sound plays on both speakers and both plays on both

Thats strange

No, that's exactly what it's supposed to do.

Edit:
Stereo => left audio channel of input goes to left speaker, right to right speaker
Mono => left and right channels of input get 'merged'; both speakers play the same sound
Left => left audio of input goes to both speakers, i.e. you get just the left channel sound
Right => right audio of input goes to both speakers, i.e. you get just the right channel sound

Edit 2:
Why would you choose left or right?
Most likely if you always had a couple of wims in a group and one played just the left channel and one just the right, and they each were the source for individual speakers being used as a stereo pair.
Although you could as easily achieve this from the grouped device screen itself.

As Ee said, it is normal. I actually found it odd when I first learned about it. Because I expected only the left speaker to produce sound when I selected left.😄
