Ongoing Beta Beta Test: Qobuz Connect

I just found the solution to my problem of no connection available to Wiim Pro from Qobuz Connect Beta.
It turns out that I activated the Google Chromecast Audio function within the Wiim Home app and voilá, I can now see my Wiim Pro device from the Qobuz beta app and thus be able to listen to music controlled from it.
So are you now using Chromecast rather than Qobuz Connect?

The version inside Qobuz beta: settings/help/contact is Version 8.4.0.1
Then you don't have the Qobuz Connect beta app installed. That's the non-Qconnect beta, I believe. I had the same problem, because I had previously signed on to the general Qobuz beta group about a year ago. Turns out this prevented me from getting the right build of the Qconnect beta app. The way it got fixed:
  • I confirmed my Google Play Store-associated email address with the Qconnect support team via email (which whitelists that ID for the Qconnect beta DL at the Play Store);
  • I went into my phone's Setup/Apps and Force Stopped Qobuz, cleared Storage and Cache, and then uninstalled the app, and rebooted my phone for good measure;
  • I used the link that the Qconnect support team sent me to install the proper beta version. In the Help/Connect screen, it will show the version as "qconnect-beta02". If it shows anything other than that, it's not the version of the app you need.
The only people who can help you are the Qconnect beta support team at Qobuz.

Observing this beta from the sidelines. What a mess. I still have Qobuz until the yearly sub elapses, but no, no interest into looking at QT. Qobuz is a terrible organization, they have planned or talked about QT for years, and look what they offer. Good riddance. Quite a contrast to WiiM.

Actually, for the most part, the beta has been going quite well. I've experienced a few glitches with one of my WiiM devices, but given that AFAIK the experiences of the beta testers with Denon/Marantz and other streamers seem to be almost flawless, I'm inclined to suspect the WiiM development team will have a greater role in addressing the glitches I've seen than their Qobuz counterparts.

Great. Perhaps my sidelines’ view is blurred.

For me, the problem of not being able to see my Wiim pro device from Qobuz has been solved, using x or y, it doesn't matter to me. Qobuz has not solved my connection problems for a long time and they have not contacted me, so for me Qoubuz Connect Beta is dead R.I.P. lol

I am now enjoying Qobuz with my discovered solution. Cheers and Happy new year.

Nonsense working perfectly for me

That seems to be the case, and I'm doing better than with the failed attempts with Qobuz Beta. For me, being a Beta Tester for Qobuz is a forgotten thing. They know why they haven't answered my emails.

Could a few other WiiManiacs on the Qconnect beta try this out? I can reproduce this at will, and I think it may be something it's up to WiiM to solve.
  1. In WHA, set up a 2 device group (in my case, I'm using an Ultra as master and a Pro as slave).
  2. In the Qconnect beta, pull up a release/album or playlist, and select the group master as the streaming endpoint.
  3. Play the content.
When I do this, it'll get through one or two tracks nicely, but on a transition to the next track, a whole bunch of distortion (scratchiness, warbling) will disfigure the content, and it won't go away in successive tracks (I assume, as I can tolerate only 2 or 3 successive tracks). I'm guessing it has something to do with a change in bit rate and/or bit depth, which WiiM isn't handling gracefully. Anybody else seeing the same?

Oddly, I don't hear the same thing with Tidal Connect which has similar transitions on playlists, but I guess WiiM must have long since figured out how to compensate for that somehow.

Have people got the WiiM Pro beta yet? I have the Qobuz Beta and can point it at my Marantz Amp but still no update for WiiM and I registered my device for beta fairly quickly

Yes, from the start. What firmware version is yours on? I think all the eligible WiiM devices except the A10 and C10 got firmware updates. Would suggest reaching out to @RyanWithWiim as well as the Qconnect support team at Qobuz to confirm your device was whitelisted at both places. BTW, have you tried a Check for Updates on your Pro, just in case it got stuck?

I think the registration on beta is closed. It was available at the time they were asking for their devices information.
